From memory Burns doesn't have the option of obtaining an EU passport (Parents and all four G-parents are Aussie), so somewhere like Holland would be the go unless he is prepared to try his luck with a UK work permit tribunal - or do a Foxey and marry a French broad.

It really is ridiculous the whole EU thing.

We have less employment rights in the UK than Germans do.

Unfortunately it's often those of us with no talent that have the benefit of an EU passport. :(

You're exactly right, it's a ridiculous situation.

Even Mile Sterjovski had his initial application for a work permit denied last week and he's been one of the mainstays of the national team in recent seasons.

Dean Bouzanis (former Sydney FC keeper and current Liverpool youth player) has been called up to the Greece U19 squad. Although it doesn't mean he can't play for the Australian senior team in the future, this surely is a disturbing development.

He is one to keep a very very close eye on in the future. Is rated the best keeper in the world for his age and although it doesnt mean he'll keep that up during his senior career surely we wouldnt wanna lose him. One would think the FFA and Rob Baan will be watching these developments.

we could do with him from an aussie sense.. Jess van Stratten should ask for a loan from Juve to get some match time

Very true. He isnt going to get a whole lot of match-time at Juve but he'll be learning a lot.

Wont get game time with Gigi who still has at least 3 years left plus their number 2 keeper is good from what ive read.. i dont think jess has even played a minute yet. he should try and get loaned out to where he will be first choice or at least competing for first choice.
Yea he will be learing alot but how will he improve if he doesnt back up the learning in a practical sense.

Well thats it. He can only improve as a player by actually playing. Its all well and good to be at a big club but hopefully he gets loaned out for a year or 2, impresses and then he may slip into Buffon's shoes when he is ready to give it away.

His form for the Socceroos over the past year has been great and when he does play for Sheffield Utd he goes well but Bayern is a bridge too far IMO. If in 12 months he improves the amount he did over the past 12 then he could be on his way.

Viduka gets no game time in the 4-1 smashing at Villa Park. He didnt look very happy at all when they showed him on the pine. Perhaps he isnt getting on very well with El Saviour

He's in a very rich vein of form at the moment. Great to see after his injury struggles, he, along with Cahill are the keys to our success during WC qualifying IMO.

It's not like he's not getting paid enough.

He's a mercenary.

He can **** off to another club if he's not happy.

Or even better, Keegan can put him on the field and perhaps try and win a game, or was he happy with the mediocraty that was out there ?? Dukes should probably get outta there before the place implodes.

Harsh. He's fit again and clearly wants to play. Yet he's forced to watch Alan "Blue Square South" Smith stink it up for a full 90 minutes?

£40k/week or not, that'd give me the shits too.

Because Viduka will make all the difference? He's not god. He's not even that good, better than Smith? Yeah, but that's not hard.

I'm not totally sure why he started on the bench, and I'm not totally sure why he didn't come on, but there is obviously a reason for it.

Whether it be lack of effort in training or a completely different thing, there's obviously a reason.

:D

Blue Square North? You sure he's even worthy of that division?

Matthew Christiansen > Alan Smith ;)

It's more like £60k/week from what I've read too.

Of course there's a reason for it, im not saying Keegan left him there for the hell of it but you gotta give the guy a chance. He isnt God but he does have a proven scoring record unlike Alan Smith who just takes up a spot.

If you were a professional sportsman you wouldnt be happy sitting on the bench either. If he doesnt fit into Keegan's gameplan then fair enough but if he's on your bench and you need a goal why not use him.

Josh Kennedy scored for Karlsruhe again in a 2-2 draw. :thumbsu:
Good work from JC.

Carle missed a hattrick of chances for Bristol City in their 2-1 win over Sheff Wed. though most reports say he had a pretty good game nonetheless.

Sterjovski got the last 25 minutes of the 3-0 loss to Spurs, looked alright, didn't get much of the ball though.

Carney wasn't even in the squad for Sheff Utd, anyone know why?
