Australia v India, 3rd Test at the MCG Dec 26-30

Don't understand why teams don't enforce the follow on more often. Zero chance were making up the 300 runs and even if we did, India wouldn't be left chasing much for victory. Just seems like a pointless way to make the game drag on longer and fatigue the opposing bowlers. Would have thought potentially removing multiple Australian batsman twice in the same day would hold more appeal to a captain than just piling on more pointless runs.
Guess you don't have the risk of batting last on the minefield....but it's only a minefield when Australia bat

Especially with rain possibly on the way

You can't be serious. Maxwell lacks the temperament even to play Big Bash cricket.

Was going for the "hot take" team of "name" players that people keep bringing up.

I would have thought Warner and Bancroft as opening partners would have been enough haha

I suppose it comes down to not burning the bowlers too much when it's not the final game of a series which hasn't been won yet.

Wonder how we'd go with Cummins, Pattinson and Jhye Richardson. Hazelwood and Starc certainly aren't bowling great.

This is back to just a few years ago with that disgrace in Hobart against South Africa. changed half the side, won the next Test and started doing well. Whether we can find a pile of different players this time is another thing.
We can just keep doing the same shit, expecting a different result.

Changes must be made

We have made that mistake a couple of times going back making sides follow on with back to back Tests on top of them. Just leaves the bowlers stuffed for the next Test.

Rain won't save Australia. Not likely to be enough rain to wash out enough time over the next couple of days.

How is his form laughable? He's barely been able to play any FC cricket this year. Average of 42 this shield season also so I can't see how that is laughable.

Look he’s be better than Marsh at least. Not convinced he wouldn’t try and reverse sweep something on middle stump

I'm so bummed out. This might be our lowest ebb in my 30 years watching cricket :(

If we're desperate for an allrounder I'm not sure why we keep going back to the Marsh well. On Shield form this year we could do worse than Neser; on proven talent in white ball internationals I'd like to see Stoinis given an opportunity for the next 3 tests.

While I'd be reluctant to make massive changes, I think Finch clearly isn't going to make it as an opener. I don't know what's caused our selectors to have seemingly stamped Burns' papers, but I'd be getting him in. If we're finally sick of SMarsh, Patterson is who I'd be going with.

If we know from the first innings that Vihari struggles against the short ball, wtf aren't we bowling him any?
