If Watson couldn't get runs under these conditions he might as well give up. Surely these among the most meaningless runs ever scored at test level. Some of the batsmen of the past who faced great Windian bowlers on tough surfaces and shake their heads at the accolades accorded some of these modern players for being gifted so many runs.

I really do question who the supporters are. Everyone has their favorites who they'll naturally back more than others, but nobody should dislike a player enough to make fun of them for not making a century (SMarsh) or make light of their achievements (Watson today).

Well said, the runs here are a joke. It's all embarrassing really. Time Tom Parker was sacked too, he's been erratic with his pitch preparation over the past five or six years.
