Got some sad news. Fwa is postponed....

Just saw this on FB too, and didn't realised they hadn't already announced it.

Talent were told of this cancellation a week ago. So I wonder what had to happen in the interim before the public were told. Or whether it's just FWA things where they forgot about the fans altogether.

As someone who loved watching wrestling at St Mary's Bandclub for years, seeing how badly FWA shit the bed with their show there makes me sad. I know some people who work for him, but they also get paid upfront so I guess that mitigates the risk.

Went along to the first Aus Pro show yesterday, was fun. Aside from Vixsin being quite possibly the worst wrestler in the country and Ben & Breakfast being so bloody annoying, the rest of the show was a lot of fun. Emmanuel vs Rory Holmes was really good and Emmanuel looked like a million bucks for a bloke who hadn't wrestled since before Covid, plus the Gore vs Ryan Rapid main event and Owen Steadman vs Jarvis were quality matches.

330pm bell time was a bit odd, but otherwise enjoyed and it will go again in the future.

And for the triple post, Slam getting nearly 2500 people through the door for a show with zero international talent is insane, talked to someone who was there and the whole show was apparently killer from a wrestling and production standpoint too.

I was hoping they were going to stream it, but I noticed the Refectory show wasn't streamed live either but posted a few days later, maybe they're trying to add a bit more production to the online product?

Slam looked like an incredible show. I wonder if they will ever branch out and leave Canberra?

There is a very, very strong word on the street that the Natural Classics are going to be announced for World Tag League.

I know we shit on it for everything that it's not, but if that ends up happening the last 3 months of 2024 almost proves TAMASHII to have been a success doesn't it?

Not for the good people of Japan who will have to watch Tome Filip roll around pretending to be a tiger.

Filips are missing something… charisma

I don't know about that. Three highly reputable guys went off for a 2 week tour in Japan that they likely would have eventually got anyway.

On the downside the events went from drawing 500-600 to about 80-120, they haven't really created a new star that has popped up and made a name for themselves only to eventually go onto NJPW, the top guys hogged the spots with the internationals, hundreds of wrestlers have paid for "tryout fees" only to never even get close to a sniff of NJPW, the Fale Dojo is considered by some within Aussie Wrestling to be a joke and nobody from there has gone over to Japan and the spots in Tamashii have been hogged by Bonza and Fale's guys whilst other better talent are left at home.

The cool thing about Tamashii is that people got the chance to see NJPW guys since NJPW no longer tours here and that the shows featured plenty of great wrestling bouts but Ugg and Velocities getting 2 weeks over in Japan doesn't negate the tens of thousands of dollars that have been lost on the project and the hundreds that have come in only to be chewed up and spat out.

Counting other people's money is not only unedifying, but it's completely irrelevant.

Until a company starts pulling a DMDU and taking advantage of its fans for money, and for as long as they're an ongoing entity, how much they've spend, lost, made, and how much they will spend is none of our business.

Not paying workers and making them actively chase you for money is red flag enough isn’t it?

Now let’s talk about the failure that was OPW running Ballarat.

Now it’s in Thornbury 3 days before Christmas… disaster of a promoter

I wonder how long they get away with this for... the money they're receiving from the Vic Govt is from the regional events fund, you can't keep taking the money while cancelling all the regional events.
