We had a predictable and one dimensional forward line today. The worse part is that is revolved around an injured player. Fevola could hardly move or chase today and his leads were not quick

Yet Ratten still had him as the solo forward aside from Cloke dropping in every now and then. Ratten would justify on basis it was SCG

Another mistake was dropping Garlett. Clearly the kid needs to develop his body and learn a little more but in his present form provides another livewire and goalkicker in attack. Armfield tried hard today around the ground but had little impact

We need a forward line with Fevola + Betts + Yarran/Garlettt + Waite/Setanta dropping in every now and then. Otherwise we need Fevola to kick 7+ per match for us to win and he won't while he is injured

Setanta? Please.
I think I might have to go with you on this one. Definitely not as a defender but we need some form of stimulation in that forwardline while Fev is proppy.

Ratten's pathetic chip it around and go nowhere game plan is one of the biggest problems. They take so freakin long to get the ball past the centre line giving the opposition backs plenty of time to run and flood back. Essendon did it last week and against Sydney on the SCG it was a no brainer. Move the ball quickly and put pressure on the opposition defense to go one-on-one. With guys like Fevola, Hoops, Betts etc. down there they'll be better than 50/50 to beat their opponent.

Pathetic effort by Ratten and the players.

Here's a crazy idea for Ratts:

Fev probably needs a weeks rest, but wont get it. Rather than play him with an injury and let it be a disadvantage, use it as an advantage.

Instruct Fev to lead out from the square all day to the pocket, thus taking at least two defenders with him. Also instruct the players to ignore Fev's lead all day, and kick it into the open space he creates...if they then clog the space instead of putting an extra man on Fev, then we now have Fev one on one...great.

where is harlett?? is he still injured?
Hartlett doesn't deserve a game in the seniors. If he makes it then we're going nowhere. Setanta's the best candidate for a forward that we've got knocking on the seniors' door.

Nothing wrong with Carlos in defense in my book thus releasing Waite up the ground (a very hard player for the opposn to match up on). We missed the wonderful presenting of Wiggo today but it is very hard to tell what is happening on TV
