We're burying the lead though...basically all I have to do is hound Bailey for photos, and he's Geelong bound?

Like, isn't it probably more likely that the Pies coaches saw the photos and were like - hey guys, maybe don't get caught out partying with the guy who was in trouble for cocaine last year, who is also now not in training/games and so not getting tested, and let's be frank here, probably has no good reason not to be doing a ton of cocaine right now?

Frankly if a club like collingwood with as many KPP issues as they have would consider trading the only draft currency they have for bailey smith that would be stupid.

Smith to Collingwood is a bit odd to me.
Would be under such a massive microscope. More so than he already is. For the sake of his mental health, Hawthorn and Geelong just feel like better fits.
Then there is the Pies list demographic.
They've just come off a flag and have a bunch of stars North of 30. As well as that, aside from Daicos there aren't many (If any?) young, first round, elite level talents coming through.
For all we know they could do a Geelong and regenerate through other means, but Baz would be walking into a side technically coming out of a premiership window.
Would also suspect Hawthorn have the most cash to splash around as well.
And Geelong sell lifestyle better than any club in Victoria.
Interesting wait and see here.

Anyone who believe's anything coming out of the media at this stage is bonkers. It's early April and they drum up anything to make it a story. There's so many different factors at play here including managers who are doing their best to leak little bits of information to increase their player's value.
The reality is that Smith could be playing footy at a bunch of different clubs next year (including the Dogs) and likely doesn't even know what he wants to do yet.

Ed Allen traded from Pies to Freo for one of their 1sts.
Collingwood dont have a 1st rounder to trade this year and will need to get one.
A 2nd and a F1st is daylight robbery. Getting a tad tired of the congo line of quality players who want to move to Collingwood every single trade period. On top of father sons and not travelling as much as others. No wonder they dont drop to the bottom to rebuild.

If we make finals and have a pick in the teens then to me it would tradeable for Smith. Wells is a gun recruiter and over the years would have more misses than hits with a pick in that range.
The issue with Smith to me is the contract. There is no way that you could justify more than 2-3 years for a player off an ACL. He will want 5+.

Wells has had as many hits and misses as most other recruiters. First rounders: Darcy Lang, Tenace, Mitch Brown, Billie Smedts, Thurlow, Nakia Cockatoo, Daniel Menzel, Cooper Stephens.
Outside the glory years, he's made some howlers just like every recruiter has.
I think that was the point. It's hit and miss in the teens.
Hard to value Smith. No way he is worth a top 5 pick EG Hawks pick this year but he's easily a mid first rounder. Wonder if a club like hawks would need to either split their pick with Suns or Dockers or someone and then give one of them to dogs or pick swap with Dogs eg Hawks first for Dogs first and Smith.

Hindsight is a beautiful thing. To think you’re a good chance to go back to back, and then have the ability to bring in someone like Schultz - I don’t think anyone would say no.

The real strength of Wells has always been picking the back end of the available talent. He has no advantage when looking at the same elite kids as everyone else, and almost always has worse selections
Who are the quality players on this "congo line" every trade period.
We are one of the teams that get very few of the trade targets we chase.
I think you will find Richmond and Geelong,. have a better destination club record than us.
