The amount of people who do "Cotton On" jokes, or a description to fit in is hurting my head in.
Unfortunately I could see Geelong being very attractive to Smith

I actually think that if he did come to Geelong that his agreement with cotton on would end up having to sunset at the end of whatever terms he's signed to. If the agreement renewed I doubt it would be expanded.

Then he'd still probably do work for the through the club but for free.

I could see his relationship with cotton on being a net financial negative if he came to Geelong versus stayed in Melbourne.

Usually throw most of those rumours into a “not happening” or “fake” pile but absolutely clubs talk to each other.

I know someone who works at a football club in their player development department and he says clubs/players/managers talk all the time all throughout the year as most people have connections through old/former teammates, different jobs, change of positions to work with different teams.

Just because there’s a “trade period” doesn’t mean these clubs and players are radio silent during that time.

The AFL can be a bit of a “Boys club” at times. These guys hang outside of footy. That’s why they are usually pretty “Buddy Buddy” after games. There’s a fair chance you grew up playing with someone or become good mates with someone while playing at that level.

That’s why people linked Daicos bros and Bailey because they have a business together and hang together outside of footy.

That's not getting it done by itself I wouldn't have thought. In saying that, it's never that simple.
