He's right. Smith wanted us but our interest changed once the team started to win games of footy and an area we thought was a weakness isn't anymore. There's flexibility to move players around where Smith would have slotted in if that makes sense. Barass became a much bigger priority when it became apparent in some of our games what we are lacking right now. Battle was already being spoken to but we needed more. Good luck to Baz at Geelong. He will take over from Danger as the number 1 man in the midfield.
We had no Day or McKenzie who both add that class around the ball. McKenzie should emerge next year as a very good onballer. Mitch Lewis into that forward line pushes Chol back to 3rd tall which is where he should be. He wasn't drafted as the big banana in the forward line more a complimentary one. Dear should develop further too. Why, hawthorn's backline is fine. They were found out in the finals as they didn't have a forward who could take a contested mark. Chol is a tall with limited ability overhead.
The other weakness hawthorn has is the lack of class around the ball as they got smashed by the modest Port midfielders, JHF the exception. Undoubtedly, hawthorn could do with a player like Smith; the question becomes do they have the trade assets to satisfy the bulldogs.
I would think this will be unlikely given they seem to have an in-principle agreement with Tom Barrass.
Calling Rozee and Butters modest is genuine btw.We had no Day or McKenzie who both add that class around the ball. McKenzie should emerge next year as a very good onballer. Completely different and GC want his salary gone too.interesting that the asking price for Jack Lukosius is a single first round pick, different player but I'd have thought marginally more value than Smith due to being an established but still young KPP
Because he's on a backloaded contract. Port will pay more in totality over a six-year deal than they otherwise would have, than if he was out of contract, so Port are counterbalancing a bigger hit to their salary cap by paying out less than they otherwise would have at the trade table. It's not that complex.interesting that the asking price for Jack Lukosius is a single first round pick, different player but I'd have thought marginally more value than Smith due to being an established but still young KPP
Lukosius is far from an established KPP been dropped multiple times closer to a Josh Schache tradeinteresting that the asking price for Jack Lukosius is a single first round pick, different player but I'd have thought marginally more value than Smith due to being an established but still young KPP

He's never even played a game of AFL but go off sonWade Derskin is an established KPP, I can’t understand how Bailey Smith would be worth more than him??
also I haven't been in the thread for a few days, whats with these Hawthorn supporters posting in here saying they're the ones that knocked B. Smith back? lmao c'mon
Lukosius has been dropped once in his career. 2 VFL games ever, with the other being a return from injury game in 2022.Lukosius is far from an established KPP been dropped multiple times closer to a Josh Schache trade
And Luko has 1 solid season in 6He's never even played a game of AFL but go off son
And his previous 4 seasons he kicked 17 goals total in 73 gamesLukosius has been dropped once in his career.
kicked 39 goals last year and 23 this year only playing Fwd from round 12 onward.
Nothing like a Schache trade. He's played 116 games in 6 seasons at the Suns.
lmao you've never seen him play thenAnd Luko has 1 solid season in 6
He wasnt but you keep with that narrative. Many ITK's had him going to us 6 months ago.He was always going to Geelong. The Barass trade baffles me, two firsts for a 30 year old with a bad back, that’s never been AA.
2 firsts is what is being speculated mate. Not what is going to eventuate. He wasnt but you keep with that narrative. Many ITK's had him going to us 6 months ago.
Irrelevant stat for most of his career as he was played as a defender for 2019, 2020 and 2021 and spent most of 2022 injuredAnd his previous 4 seasons he kicked 17 goals total in 73 games
Talented player sure but never been consistent with his effort which again isn't dissimilar to what Schache was
the fact that you compare him to Schache baffles me, just admit you've never seen Lukosius play and move onAnd his previous 4 seasons he kicked 17 goals total in 73 games
Talented player sure but never been consistent with his effort which again isn't dissimilar to what Schache was
Your not actually into all the details of the discussions are you. There's other reasons we pulled out of the running as well but you obviously want to keep the narrative he chose Geelong because of the lifestyle, culture etc.also I haven't been in the thread for a few days, whats with these Hawthorn supporters posting in here saying they're the ones that knocked B. Smith back? lmao c'mon
