Without understanding the issues, I do hope the club make him stay at Peel for an extended run and really earn a call-up.

We do not want a precedence set for bailing mid season without their being consequences.

Ridiculous statement. No-one knows the details, may have been completely justified.

Ridiculous. It is arguments like these which perpetuate harmful mental health stigma. I applaud the club for being proactive in this case. He does not need 'punishing' for his situation by being made to languish at Peel. When he is deserving of a call up, he gets it.
FMD the PC police are out in force. I sympathise with Balics situation but dockshark is 100% correct he has to earn his way back into the team. It's not "punishing" Balic it's making him earn his spot.

Homesickness is depression
It isn't depression, it can cause depression, there's a difference. Being homesick doesn't automatically mean you're depressed. We shouldn't even be discussing the circumstances behind why he's not in Perth because it's a bunch of he said/she said BS with no factual information around it.

Homesickness at the severe scale can also be called seperation anxiety disorder, Jesus Navas the soccer player had it when he as younger and was unable to play any away games, he managed to work through it however playing away games within Spain, then continental games and eventually moved to play for Manchester City

Of course the £90000 PER WEEK (+bonuses) Navas has been paid by Man City in no way influenced his decision.

More to the point - is there any news filtering through as to when he is likely to return, if at all?
Harley was due back in Perth on Sunday. With the main training days for this week being Wednesday and Friday I expect to see him at training on Wednesday

Cheers Danny, would be encouraging to see him back in the fold again

Keep the updates coming m8

So to summarise:

A thread is created on a discussion forum regarding Harley being absent from the club.

The thread goes nowhere and a few folks discussing his return to football are crucified by the outrage brigade.

Posts suggesting we should all shut up and stop discussing Harley's absence attract lots of likes.

Close thread?

Mental health is the new ADD
Mental health (or depression, specifically) is more a symptom than a disease in itself, and more often than not the result of environmental factors - the simplest and most effective thing to do is to change that environment. Most people think they can't, though, and we throw pills at it instead. Bandaids.

Balic is doing exactly what he needs to at this point.
Hope he comes back.

I think the term gets thrown around a bit too much, especially in football circles

I find it cheapens the meaning especially to people who are genuinely mentally ill. It just seems easy to put someone in that bracket because we don't question it.

Franklin last year on the eve of finals is a classic example

There again I am no expert in the field and my views may seem archaic

Anyhoo we are all in agreement that we hope nothing but the best for Harley, whatever the outcome

Sounds like Harley isn't back as planned given RTB's reiterating the corporate stance that is a personal issue.

Bit of a shame if he is going to piss off back after all the time and effort given to him regarding his wrist injury. Yes. We don't know the details. But it isn't looking promising

I'll take your word for that m8 :D

He'd nearly be a perfect 10 if he was taller than 6ft.

I feel like the short hair really shows off the cheekbones though

You could cut your hand on his cheek bones.
