Oooh there's stuff on social media!

Oh no whatever should we do?
Still haven't heard anything solid on why Ben Amarfio should be moved on? Only people's takes on silly breakfast/walked out by security anecdotes etc.

Whilst I agree Sonja has been conspicuously non-committal on the topic not sure why the suggestions such as Peter Bell (as an example) are stronger CEO candidates than Ben Amarfio?
Social media, traditional media, or here - basically, when it comes to the inner workings of a football club, nobody knows nothing. Most wouldn't even know what a CEO does. We're in no position to judge whether the current CEO is doing his job brilliantly, adequately, or incompetently. But I have a fair idea that someone who is actually a CEO would know. And Sonja is a CEO. So I'm happy to support her decision as to whether Ben Amarfio remains as CEO of North Melbourne Football Club or not. Anyone else is just p!ssing into the wind.

Agree. It's (edit: not (!)) Sonja's judgement I'm iffy on more the ongoing picking away at him from the outer.

All up for dissection of anything North related but don't know why his lack of immediate football background keeps getting singled out. AFL and NRL are full of CEOs who didn't come into the system directly from the respective sport. You'd think Amarfio was some sort of groundbreaker.

Well I think we'll never know as long as we can't even agree on what responsibilities are. We made some very strange decisions of late and yes for many years is also fair.

Who's got a copy of the org chart with reporting lines?

And his PD would make it easier to determine who's fault it is for the current pickle we find ourselves in.

I don't get this line of thinking on him though. Unless he went back in time and made a series of football department decisions before he actually got his own job.

I just want to point out that Edmund has been the primary player in pushing the "BA is shit and on the way out" narrative and has been pushing it for months now. Several other points. He was being fed info by Luff who had big issues with BA. Edmund has been more anti-North than Barret this year. Edmund used to have incredibly accurate and positively spinned info on us in previous years. Edmund was the tosser who got used by a political hasbeen to try and push his case as Gil's replacement. There are non AFL parties who have issues with BA.

With all that said it doesn't mean there isn't some fire, but I would suggest most of that fire is because BA has been forced to over reach at times because we lack staff, and the lower level staff we do have usually don't respond well to a headkicking corporate type looking over their work and criticising them to their face. He also hasn't neccesarily been stellar himself in some of that work.

Overall BA does good work. We would be stupid to remove him from the club and other than "Noble needed to go and it needed to happen last week" the only info Sonya has given from the review is that we have a lot of staff doing good work but have issues with communication lines and the roles individuals are in. Taking Edmund's well ground axe out of the equation, signs point to BA being moved sideways or having someone else put in a role that would take away some of his responsibities.

Jy: don't tell me he is underdeveloped. He's never going to be a big bodied mid but I will believe he's under 80kg when he gets a scale on front of me. He is strong enough to play midfield.
Turner: is not underdeveloped either. He is light framed but has a fair amount of muscle. 71kg? No chance. He may squeak in under 80.
TT: looks to have a fair bit of development to go. I would still be amazed if he's under 80 @ 189cm.
Sleevo: obviously skinny but spent last summer in rehab after his bike stunt work so was unlikely to bulk up.
Taylor: also obviously skinny but I've mentioned before that his main athletic knock in his draft year was lack of tank and he appears to have hit that hard as he does well in the club time trials. Needs to keep adding bulk.
Bailey: skinny but has clearly added some size since drafting.

FWIW just as a comparison with Jy, Rory Laird is listed as 78kg and he is a nuggetty ball of muscle. Papley also listed at 79kg. It's a bit misleading to just look at the weight in isolation, as going by some comments on here you'd think every AFL player needs to be 90+kg to not get snapped in half. The other guys listed though probably need to put on a little bit of weight but I don't think any of them are going to be able to put on 10kg overnight while also keeping their athletic attributes.

Totally agree.

The Richmond sides that won premierships and even that WB side had a lot of players 183cm and under who were also 82kg and under.

A few years ago we had a ton of 185cm -189cm players weighing from 86kg -90kg and we were slow, lacked agility and couldn't cover the ground.

Being 85kg instead of 80kg makes it a lot harder to run 14km.

I've never understood this line of thought..."we're in no position to judge"

We could use that line for everything. We can't judge the coaches, the recruiters, the strength and conditioning team, medical department, or the players...because they all have more information than us and are backed by one another. Even if some of us are experts in relevant fields we still don't have everything.

Defaulting to that decision for everything would close down BigFooty. So I guess we should all just continue pissing into the wind for every topic.

Wasn’t doing LM duties

Great decision by the club. He is obviously a great businessman, but he had no idea how to run a football club. Even our debt was well on the way to being clear before he took on the role and our membership was already steadily growing as well.
