Are there any good KPDs that are even OOC or FAs this year? Get a feeling Ben McKay might be the only one...

Also he's gone, I think we've all seen this story play out before.

Redman, Howe, Bilcavs, Himmleberg, Grimes, Rampe, McGovern and Doedee are backs that are FA.
A lot of aging ones, Doedee and Howe are KPD replacements but not McKay ones. Redman isn't a KPD. This list doesn't fill me with too much hope. Maybe get one of the older ones and draft a KPD regardless.

Well North without Mckay... chances are its not going to go well while he's out. If North get off to a real bad start to the year again I feel like he'd start talking to teams about finalising a move come end of year.

Blicavs and rampe will stay or retire ditto grimes (who is basically done). Howe same due to age.
Redman is not a kpd nor is doedee.
Mcgoverb is too injury prone.

I was of the understanding band 1 was in the 800-850+ range but nobody really knows for sure with the AFL

Daniher got band 1 compo and he is on 700k a year. North will match anything under 800k. It’s a win win for North to be honest. We either keep McKay or get band 1 compo. We could potentially have 3 top 10 picks in this years draft.

Joe played 108 games in 8 years at the Bombers (including AA and a BnF) vs McKay's 52 in 7 years with no accolades so to speak. The 'secret formula' isn't just based on money. If he walks, would imagine he'd get band 2 at best unless he has an amazing year which now seems unlikely due to injury.

Outside looking in, McKay is probably North's most important player. Corr is 28 and shit, Dawson is a good VFL player but not sure if he can make the step up and Logue is a very good 3rd but I'm not convinced he can take the Lynch/Hawkins types.

Would be a huge blow if he left. And with the key defensive market being average at best currently anyway, I can see many teams putting a big contract in front of him.

Corr is Laverde - an undersized defender that get asks to play roles outside their abilities.

Yes, in the case of Corr it's the fact that he has none.

Well you must not think very highly of Laverde who was rated the same level of Corr by McGuane and McFarlane.
Don't those two write for the HS? That should say it all, really.

I'm one of Laverde's biggest critics. But comparing him to Corr is like comparing Henry Slattery to Michael Firrito, to put one in your teams favour

My mistake - its still the off season and every ess player is better than everyone else in the league.

Nah, not really.

Laverde is just shitloads better than Aidan Corr. Just like McKay is shitloads better than both of them.

Sorry - but im taking McGuane's opinion over your bias one. But agree McKay is a lot better than both.
Sure you are. You never fail to disappoint Billy. You make a wildly incorrect statement comparing an Essendon player to a North one, someone corrects you and then rant about how "all Essendon players are better than everyone else" as a defence when they do so.

Remember when you said that Peter Wright's 3 year deal was worse than Aidan Core's 5 year one?

It’s the AFL’s secret herbs and spices that we need to focus on if BMac decides to leave for a bigger contract.

If we’re crap again this year (big chance) then the AFL will give us some leverage just like they did with your club when you were pus, they gifted you pick 3 for Frawley compensation back in 2014 which was unheard of for a backman until then.

The Ivory Tower wont want us to stay in the bottom 3 forever, so they’ll help us out of the quicksand just like they did the Demons, the Blues, etc.. by overcompensating us for BMac who realistically is probably worth a pick around 12-15.

Corr and Laverde being a similar standard is a wildly incorrect statement? Yet 2 experts put them on the exact same level??

I think your mixing Wright up with Jake Kelly.

Can you point to where the 'experts' put them on the exact same level?

Given that the Herald Sun employ Robbo as their chief football writer I'd argue that anybody who thinks anything in that rag is worth reading has rocks in their heads.

And no, I mean Wright:
Peter Wright has 3. Tipping I know which player will add more value. At least Corr competes.
