Bernie Vince - Brownlow Medal?

Seeing we`re talking about odds and Brownlow betting. About 8 weeks ago on footywire I took a look at bernie`s stats, after remembering him bieng BOG in a great win against collingwood in rnd 1. And I was pleasantly suprised enough to find (as someone on this thread has already mentioned) that his stats add up there with the best in the league.

After that I found him at the tote at 1000-1 and 250 for a place. So I ive got 400 on him each eay at the tote, and found him at the odds at 250 to one to finish top 5 at betstar.com, so I wacked 500 on him there.

A couple weeks after that i thought it was all over with a couple of quiet games, but as the season went on its become more interesting.

If he somehow pulls off a miracle, make no mistake, its my shout for every crows supporter when you come here for the Grand Final! :thumbsu:

-ADELAIDE midfielder Bernie Vince has established himself as an elite player in the competition, skipper Simon Goodwin says.

The 23-year-old cemented his place in the Adelaide line up last year, missing just two games through injury, and has taken his game to another level in 2009

Bernie's got enormous talent and what he has developed in his game is an unbelievable training ethic. He's developed into an elite player and it's been great to watch his development,” Goodwin said.

Okay so didnt exactly put a $100 on the win, but just for $50 on Bernard to place @ 51/1 with Centrebet.

He is only paying 34/1 at the TAB to win the whole damn thing!

Centrebet still has him at 201/1, but I think a place might be a much more safer bet.

Come on Bernie!!!

sorry about that gets, i reckon me putting 400 each way on him at 1000 to one might have something to do with his shorter price at the tote.

9 times out of 10 the brownlow medalist plays off in the GF, and we all know when the crows make the granny, they come out on top, so it might be a good multi vince/crows premiers at what 340 to one? :thumbsu:

In last two hours Vince has dropped from $201 to $126

If you want to make that bet get onto Centrebet Crows paying $9.00

so payout would be $1,134

I'd love for the great Bernard to get the medal, very unlikely but the Brownlow can always be full of surprises!

Although personally I would be annoyed if Dane Swan won it.

hey guys, bernie vince is a gun and love the way he plays. i was looking through the odds for most votes for adelaide and vince is paying a good 3 bucks, ive seen adelaide play a few times this year and he has played really well in all those matches. what do u guys reckon? worth the punt?

Stretching it a bit... Since 1991 (when we joined the league) the breakdown is as follows:

Brownlow & GF in same year:
2007 - Jimmy Bartel
2006 - Adam Goodes
2005 - Ben Cousins
2003 - Nathan Buckley
2002 - Simon Black
2001 - Jason Akermanis
2000 - Shane Woewodin
1997 - Robert Harvey
1993 - Gavin Wanganeen

Brownlow by no GF:
2008 - Adam Cooney
2004 - Chris Judd
2003 - Mark Ricciuto & Adam Goodes
1999 - Shane Crawford
1998 - Robert Harvey
1996 - James Hird & Michael Voss
1995 - Paul Kelly
1994 - Greg Williams
1992 - Scott Wynd
1991 - Jim Stynes

9 Brownlow Medallists played in the GF the same year, 12 did not. That's considerably worse than a 50-50 record.

There's no doubt that the Brownlow is almost always won by one of the better teams. Very rarely has it been won by a player whose team did not make the finals. I believe we've performed well enough this year that Bernie Vince is not without a chance, if the muppets don't continually get him confused with our other blonde midfielders.

10 Brownlow Medallists played in the GF the same year, 10 did not. That's a genuine 50-50 record.

Fair point mate. When I made my 9 times out of 10 call I was only thinking of the last 8 yrs.

You raise a good point where the brownlow is mainly won by better teams, thats one of the reasons i dont think goodes will poll aswell this yr.

Shared with Michael Voss.

Of note: Corey McKernan missed out on making it a three way tie with his suspension, but earned a premiership medalion later that week. Essendon & Brisbane both went out in the prelim stage.
Missed Voss when I was reading down the list. My bad. Fixed now. This makes the count 9-12 in favour of those who played for teams who were long gone before the last Saturday in September.

I had $20 on him the other week at $6 to get the most votes for the crows.

Also had $10 each was on Goodes and $10 on a Swan-Goodes quinella.
