Hard nosed and versatile...Fits the 3rd tall very well.

White also adds toughness to our team, a trait we have sadly lack
What about kicking, spoiling and contested marking? Hard nosed and versatile are good traits to have but efficiency and consistency are pretty important Id rekon!

Anyone that doesn't barrack for the blues that has footy knowledge would agree that he's nothing more then a backup player! Imo rowe has a had a shorter afl career and has passed him by a mile or 2... Not to mention he had cancer, what a great comeback...

Yet Mick still calls on him at every opportunity to play in the guts.

Carrazzo will want to stay fit though as any more soft tissue injuries could become a real problem for him.
I dont mind carrots but I think its time to move on and let the kids have a go!

Moe B White may not be the best back-man going around and when Jaksch is ready, he may well take over his spot but for now, he's the best we've got as the third tall who can actually body against even the likes of Taylor Walker.
He's a role player that will give his all to spoil the opposition forward and get ball to his team-mates advantage....something Bootsma couldn't be bothered with.

Before injury, Carrazzo was widely regarded as one of our most important players and at 30 he still has enough going for him to make impact.
We know he's not one of the sexiest players going around and like Curnow seems to get noticed for the odd error as opposed to all the good that he does............we may miss the good but Mick doesn't............as otherwise he wouldn't be getting games.

Simon White is every bit best 22 at this stage. He's the perfect third tall in the backline.

From the few sessions of training I've attended this year, combined with last years team - this is how I see things at the moment. The names in red are those who I think may miss out.

B: Dylan Buckley, Michael Jamison, Simon White
HB: Chris Yarran, Sam Rowe, Zach Tuohy
C: Dale Thomas, Bryce Gibbs, Sam Docherty
HF: Andrew Walker, Lachie Henderson, Marc Murphy
F: Troy Menzel, Levi Casboult, Liam Jones
Foll: Matthew Kreuzer, Chris Judd, Ed Curnow
I/C: Kade Simpson, Tom Bell, Andrejs Everitt
Sub: Patrick Cripps

Ciaran Sheehan - Found it difficult to leave him out of my 22. He just seems like the perfect back flanker, and will no doubt play quite a few games this season.
Nick Graham - Tough to leave this guy out but I think guys like Bell and Cripps offer something different to the team.
Andrew Carrazzo - I'd imagine if fully fit he'll make the side, he's just been gone for so long we forget how good he can be. There's also the issue of having Curnow and Everitt playing similar roles.
David Ellard - Will be fighting for a spot as a small forward.
Jason Tutt - Ditto above.
Cameron Wood - Next best ruckman, if Kreuzer or Casboult go down.
Matthew Watson - His best shot is continuing his form as a tall forward and taking Jones' spot.
Mark Whiley - Most likely a depth midfielder at this stage, but could pull an Anthony Miles from Richmond and become an important player. Competing with Cripps, Curnow, Bell, Graham and Carrazzo.
Blaine Johnson - Played well in the seniors last year, might have a chance of sneaking in if Walker isn't fit. Has been looking good at training.
Nick Holman - Looks a lot bigger this year, would not be surprised to see him become a Malthouse special and play quite a few games.
Blaine Boekhorst - A guy the club have obviously recruited to play a role early on, will interesting to see when he debuts.
Kristian Jaksch - Doesn't seem ready to me at the moment, I think we're better off with White and Rowe at this stage - however would be next in line if one of these two or Jamison (maybe even Henderson) go down.
Rob Warnock - Looks to be behind Kreuzer, Casboult and Wood.
Dennis Armfield - Poor old Dennis seems destined for delisting. A depth player.
Bradley Walsh - This guy has really impressed me at training, seems to have a good rapport with the rest of the team and I wouldn't be surprised if he plays a few games this year.
Dillon Viojo-Rainbow - Could be another guy who plays early on, probably needs to put on some more muscle to play make this side consistently.

Matthew Dick - Haven't seen a whole lot of this guy as of yet, but he might surprise and get picked early on.
Billy Gowers - The love child of Jonathan Brown and Bryce Gibbs looks like a solid player, might see some senior action this year.
Ciaran Byrne - If he develops like Tuohy and Sheehan have he'll debut this year.
Clem Smith - Seems quite unfit and I'm not sure the small forward role suits him.
Jayden Foster - Not sure he'll play this year but I think he has a lot of potential.
Fraser Russell - A very pasty man.
Tom Fields - Good back up if White or Jaksch go down.

Cameron Giles - :(

Brutal assessment, Blugazi. Ellard has to kick goals to keep a spot. Couldn't agree more re: Carrots. People have short memories if they don't recall his form pre that dog Lonergan's gift to cowardice. Would also be surprised if Bell was the player keeping Nicky G out of a spot. Good work.

Carrots bleeds blue and was our best player 6-7 years, we appreciate was he's done for us but all good things come to an end and I feel that his time is up, especially because we are not in a premiership winning position and we've got plenty of young kids we need to develop!!

Bootsma just didnt have his head screwed on... forget him! Again I like carrots but the kids need a go seeing as how we are rebuilding now! I dont see the point playing him ahead of whiley cripps or graham... Effectively it wasting time!

Your point on development is right as Cripps must start getting games.
Graham also should be given responsibilities through the course if the year.

Anyway and one way or another it will likely be injury that brings about chances for others. It always does.

The above is exactly what I am talking about.

Go back and watch games he plays in. Doesn't do a lot wrong. Always does the team thing. Performs when needed but doesn't stand out for doing anything flashy.

He is like that kid at high school who you see in the year 12 photo, but can't for the life remember them. If you researched them, you realise they were in the same cricket and footy team as you (performing quite well in the middle order and as a half back flanker), you had science class with them and they sat 10ft away, they rocked up for your 18th birthday for a couple of hours and had a good time and they dressed up in a full panda outfit at the end of year muck-up day. You can't remember a damn thing about them but they were there every time.

Watch some Carlton games from 2014, look for White's number and head, and you have the above situation dawn on you.

I personally hope Carrazzo gets plenty of VFL footy in 2015 but would understand if he gets senior games right away and whenever fit...I'd be a little disappointed though.

You should put this in a heartfelt letter and send it to the MC

For me, these are the locks for out best 22.

I'm pretty confident that Malthouse will go with a 3 tall forward line.

The only reason Walker and Everitt are on the bench is I didn't know where to put them on the field !! Both are very versatile, which is great!

It's interesting that nearly all punters are assuming that Walker will move forward again this year, when in fact (unless I have missed something) there has been no such talk from players, coaches or the club.

So, there are still 7 spots up for grabs, IMO these are the 12 most likely fill them.

S. White
K. Jaksch
D. Buckley
P. Cripps
S. Docherty
M. Whiley
T. Bell
N. Graham
Z. Touhy
A. Carrazzo
E. Curnow.
C. Sheehan

5 of these have to miss out on being in the 22, you choose !!

And that doesn't include a specialist forward, ie Ellard, Tutt or Smith as I just think the team is stronger without them.

I also haven't included any 1st year players. If Boekhurst or DVR start pressing for selection it adds even more depth !!

The rest of the squad includes; Warnock, Watson, Foster, Giles, Armfield, Holman, Dick, plus all the rookies.
