I think they’ll look to play Reid if he’s near ready. Otherwise I’d have Stewart.

I think Shiel gets a bit more flack for his kicking than he should. Melbourne has Brayshaw on the wing who misses his target 8 in 10.

Realistically Shiel, McGrath, Caldwell will all rotate through midfield, bench and forward.
I think when they do play Reid it will be with Stewart next to him, at least for the first 20 odd games. Let him add weight and muscle and get a feel for the pace of AFL without having to mind 1 of the oppos best 2 key forwards.

My memory was icy the end of the year Stewart had already been pushed to the third tall role, with Lav & Ridley primarily getting the main threats. That role is perfect for bringing Reid through.

That's a pretty tall side, imagine thinking the thing we needed this draft was another tall. The VFL side that is

There is a lot of unknown among those VFL tall forwards. Let’s hope Wright and Harrison don’t go down in the off-season.
It’s just another development year so getting a few games into Baldwin and Bryan would be a good thing even if their output isn’t at the level of the other two.

Devon is going to have to produce his most consistent season since 2018 to stay in the 22 this year. His discipline improved after whatever conversations were had last year, but he'll have to watch that too. Perkins looks most likely to take that half forward/mid position full time, but im happy for him to have to earn his place in the 22 through VFL performance in the guts. Hobbs the same. Guelfi is the perfect medical sub as he can pinch hit in a few different roles and gives 100% every game. Cox starts on the wing but he'll have Durham eyeing off his spot if he drops off. Wright, Jones and Francis is my preferred tall forward set up to start. 100 goals between the 3 of them is a good target

I like this team eth - and I think most of us have something fairly similar;-

FB: Jake Kelly - James Stewart - Nick Hind
HB: Jordan Ridley - Jayden Laverde - Dyson Heppell
MF: Kyle Langford - Zachary Merrett - Nik Cox
HF: Devon Smith - Harrison Jones - Will Snelling
FF: Aaron Francis - Peter Wright - Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti

The thing that concerns me most is our forward line...
Our most consistent goal kicker in that forward line is Tippa - and whilst he started last season on fire kicked 27 goals from his 1st 12 games, he was horribly out of form for most of the 2nd part last season averaging just 6.5 disposals, 0.9 goal(s) & only 2 tackles for his last 8 games - and by all reports he's come back overweight and out of shape this pre- season...
Harry Jones has lots of upside - but he's still 20 and coming off a big injury so to rely on him kicking any more than 25 goals would be a stretch
2MP is an interesting player - some big games - a couple of 3 & 4 goal bags, and one bag of 7 - but there's plenty of games he kicks none and doesn't impact the game the way he should for a guy of his size and strength
Snelling and Smith are good forward pressure smalls - but 12 and 13 goals respectively is hardly going to put fear into opposition defences..
Then there's Aaron Francis who I have playing forward also and am hoping for a break out year in 2022 - but Aaron has been playing at AFL level for 6 years - granted he's had some time off here and there - but he's only managed 8 goals during his entire career - thats right - just 8 goals..!!
Anyone else have similar concerns/worries about our forward line next year..??

Move Smith to the bench and Stringer is our most consistent forward.

Agreed - Stringer is the man - but he'll spend plenty of time in the middle so we still need a 'go to' forward who plays forward and stays forward...right now we just dont have that :(
Think he spends less time there then 2021 with the additions of Shiel, Caldwell and potentially Hobbs along with Mcgrath and Langford.

We want him taking as many CBAs as possible and even getting upto those stoppages in the front 50% of the ground because his main weapon is exploding from congestion and kicking goals from 55. Post that phase i think we want him fairly deep forward.

It will be interesting if all of HJ , 2MP, Francis and Stringer can work together forward with pressure and F50 turnovers

Love this side

Smaller look but can definitely work

Stringer and Langford as the 3/4th tall forwards

Draper has an exceptional tank doest he? Probably time he handles 85% TOG as a ruck

Just about nailed it for me. Dev Smith, a B&F winner 4 years ago is so unlucky. I thought his form towards the end of last season was pretty good. Hope he can get to his best and force his way in. Baldwin is the other one I would love to see in as well. He could give us the extra size and power we really need in the forward line. To go deep into finals we need depth and I think we have a good group
of young kids who will have a red hot go.
It will be really interesting to see if any of the younger boys can force their way in as well. Competition for spots can only be healthy.

Dev Smith played well against a side that was just waiting for the year to be over

He was back to his norm in a big elimination final a week later

I hope he needs a really good preseason and preseason games to be picked in the best 22 not just an automatic because of his name ect

guys can you help me out?
regarding fantasy, specifically ultimate, but just sc/afl or dt if not familiar

what positions will cox and perkins receive?
im thinking perkins keeps his F,but cox i really have no idea,i read last season where some bomber fans wanted him to go forward,so i assume he wont get an F,last thing i want for both is that they are stuck with C only

got them in keeper leagues, any help appreciated
cheers

ps any chance at all shiel gets given F?

Based on last year

Cox C
Perkins F
Snelling F

When does he become best 22?

Who does he replace?

Ridley - Laverde - J.Kelly
Hind - Reid/Stewart - Heppell (Redman)
Langford - Stringer - Z.Merrett (N.Cox)
Snelling - HJ - Caldwell
Tippa - Wright - Francis (Perkins)
S.Draper - Shiel - Parish (Mcgrath)

Does it matter hes best 22 in the next 24 months?

Who doesnt enter the 2024 season from that side due to retirement?

Shiel will be 32 at start of 2024, unlikely he will be 1st choice ruck rover then (probably isnt even now). Wouldnt surprise me if heppell’s body breaks down. Francis I wouldnt have as best 22 currently based on inconsistent performance

I believe he will be 30 during the preseason and turning 31, 2 weeks before round 1 commences in 2024

Im not talking about injury. Injury doesnt really affect best 22. Best 22 assumes everyone's fit

Is Francis replaced by a tall or a small? If a small is it Dev Smith or is Hobbs an option?
