Post your opinion of freo's best 22 on here and discuss your team with other die hard docker fans. I think with a healthy team, we are going to have some good players missing out, but that means there will also be a lot pressure on our players to perform.

For anyone who has McPhee in the forward line, Ross Lyon has already said that he will play him off half-back. He also said that he wants to keep Ryan Crowley!

FF: Ballantyne, A, Mayne
HF: DeBoer, Pavlich, Fyfe
C: Hill, B, Morabito
Ruck: Sandilands, Mundy, Barlow
HB: McPhee, McPharlin, D
FB: C, Silvagni, Grover/Anthony/Johnson/Faulks

A: who the **** knows. Could be anyone. Might be no-one .... again

B & C: Broughton and Suban. Can't decide which one is where. May rotate

D: Probably Ibbotson or Duffield. Regardless, Ibbotson will be best 22 no matter what some of you think.

Pointless doing the interchange. So much will change over the preseason but at this stage Clarke would have to be in the team, Lower and Mzungu most likely would be and about 15 other players easily could be.

I like your team. Do you think Walters and Ballantyne can become the new Milne-Schneider combo?
Broughton is required in the defense, but we need another midfield and he is a gun medfielder, also do you think Ibboston will go through the midfield next year?

Strong possibility imo. Was supposed to happen this year before a certain few players went down with injury. Some say he shows similar traits to Mundy. And highly rated as a leader within the club.

I also think that people on this board underrate Subans potential as a midfielder. imo it is ENORMOUS. For me it's one of those things that you just know. He will be an A-grade midfielder in a couple years. Am sure of it.

Mate I couldn't agree any more with that. I'd like to see Ross play him through the midfield, same with Ibboston.

For anyone who disagrees. Watch this. One of the rare games where he was given a decent crack in the midfield

I still remember Suban's match against Essendon in 2009 when he played in the midfield.
25 disposals, 2 goals, 4 tackles, 8 clearances, and 7 inside 50s. That’s a field day in my books.

FF: Ballantyne, Bradley, Mayne
HF: DeBoer, Pavlich, Fyfe
C: Hill, Lower, Morabito
Ruck: Sandilands, Mundy, Barlow
HB: Broughton, McPharlin, Suban
FB: Duffield, Silvagni, Grover
I: Clarke McPhee Pitt(?) Crichton/Michie(?)

Well, as additional big man to replace someone when needed or on form: Griffin, Johnson, Anthony, Sibasado (?), Faulks (?)

Walters, Mellington as additional small forwards. Crowley to replace DeBoer or McPhee when needed. Ibbotson in defense.

Makes me think our midfield depth is the biggest concern. Once first choice goes down, not much is left...

PS And there has been a lot of talk about a small shutdown defender, but I actually have problems to name a player that could be considered to be one (in the whole league). Perhaps a role for DeBoer or McPhee...

Ballatyne Pavlich De Boer

Fyfe Johnson Mayne

Clarke Barlow Ibbottson

Druffield McPharlin McPhee

Grover Silvagni Broughton

Ruck Sandilands, Mundy, Hill

Bench: Morabito, Suban, Mzungu,

Sub: Roberton

Eme: Lower, Griffin, Walters

Consider: Pitt, Mellington, Crichton, Bradley

FB: Broughton Silvagni Grover
HB: Duffield McPharlin McPhee
C: Hill Morabito Fyfe
HF: de Boer Clarke Mayne
F: Griffin Pav Ballantyne
Ruck: Sandilands Barlow Mundy
Int: Mzungu Lower Suban
Sub: Roberton

Griffin, Clarke and Sandi together? Who knows. Lyon likes the talls!!!

Change is coming, so I don't see much point in naming the same mob as last year.

FF: Ballantyne Anthony Michie

HF: Fyfe Pavlich Mayne

C: Morabitto Mundy Hill

HB: Broughton MacPharlin Duffield

FB: Mzungu Silvagni Faulks

Rucks: Sandilands Barlow deBoer

Int; Ibbotson, Clarke, Grover, Suban,

Unlucky; Johnson, Bradley, Lower, Walters, Mellington, MacPhee

Sub; Pitt

Definitely want JA given first crack as a forward and hope that gets sorted out in the pre-season. Otherwise I guess we will be going with MJ and/or Bradley.

At the other end I am hoping Faulks gets it together, and we start to see the end of Grover (not because I want to see the end of Grover).

In reality, I fully expect one or two new faces to be in the side, or at the least in the "unlucky" column.

FF: Ballantyne Pavlich deBoer
HF: Fyfe Clarke Mayne
C: Morabito Barlow Mzungu
HB: Broughton Silvagni Ibbotson
FB: Hill Silvagni Grover
FOLL: Sandilands Mundy Suban
INT: Griffin Lower Pitt McPhee

Play Zac as an out and out CHF. He can lead, he can kick, he can mark and he has a great tank. Sandi and Griff to share ruck duties.

Hill to back pocket as small defender a la Davis from Pies.

FF: Ballantyne Pavlich deBoer
HF: Fyfe Mayne Clarke
C: Hill Morabito Mzungu
HB: Broughton Silvagni Duffield
FB: Ibbotson McPharlin Grover
FOLL: Sandilands Mundy Barlow
INT: Suban Lower Michie McPhee

The next 6: Pitt, Roberton, Mellington, Crowley, Walters... MJ if he gets it together.

I'd swap Morabito for Fyfe or Broughton but apart from that very good. :thumbsu:

Like the look of Gavs just Suban in BP (to take the small), and Deboer to defensive fwd , moving Fyfe into the mid.

FF: Ballantyne Anthony Michie

HF: Deboer Pavlich Mayne

C: Morabito Mundy Hill

HB: Broughton MacPharlin Duffield

FB:Suban Silvagni Faulks (Need some games before groves retires)

Rucks: Sandilands Barlow Fyfe

Int; Ibbotson, Clarke, Mzungu,
Sub: McPhee

Others looking to push for selection:
Mellington
Crichton
Walters
Johnson
Keps
Groves
Crowls

FF: Ballantyne, Bradley, Mayne
HF: DeBoer, Pavlich, Fyfe
C: Hill, Lower, Morabito
Ruck: Sandilands, Mundy, Barlow

I: Clarke McPhee Pitt(?) Crichton/Michie(?)

Thats what I'd go with but at this stage I'd have Mzungu on the bench instead of Mitchie or Pitt.

Also think the rookies should only get games on form not just for the sake of getting experience, we now need to build this into a finals contending side.

Your going to love Ross Lyon.

I hope so... I'm definitely not against giving the kids a few games but I think the team is at a stage now that they young guys shouldnt be getting 22 games just to help their own development, it should be more about developing the team as a whole.

Not bad. Personally I'd prefer Mellington in the FP as opposed to Michie.
I can see a time where Mayne is under serious pressure to keep his spot.
Michie or Walters could take it if they work hard. Would love Lower in there somewhere too.

The team has pretty much been covered by others. What I would like to see is Pavlich not just playing forward, but playing predominantly inside 50. I think we can use a combination of Clarke, Mayne and Bradley as the roaming type forwards. I'd say that is what we had planned for Mitch Clark.

Is Hill an automatic selection ? He was very soft last season. I think the new coach will be looking for some modifications in his game.

You would think so. Ross the boss said this when he first came on board:

In particular Stephen Hill, he's exceded any expectations that anyone could have put on him in his first three years of AFL - he's well ahead of the curve and he's well on track to being the player Fremantle want him to be.

I know, we (St Kilda) tagged him for the last two years, so I think that says something about the player, what he's been delivering and the talent he has.

Harvey's first season was thrown away because he failed in his assessment if our list. I don't think Lyon will have the same failing. Is Hill a walk up start? In the media you'd think Lyon has indicated yes, but he has done similar with MacPhee and Griffin.

I want players to earn their spots, competition to be fierce, and hard selection decisions made every week and every year. The club was ruthless in getting Lyon. Keep it up.
