This is a really tough one. You could make the claim Betts is the best small forward of all time, and Modra was an absolute superstar

Both probably responsible for the most amazing moments in the forward line, followed by Jars & Tex.

This mark is criminally underrated in the best marks of all time.
1. Not only was it a huge jump onto a Ruckmans shoulders, he carried Archer with him. You know how much strength that must take?
2. He was up there for such a long time, you can see that he had to stabalise himself before he lifted his arms to mark the ball. The aerial skill involved to just judge that, very few players could pull that off.

Eddie did some amazing things.. But he was ahead of his time. What he used to do, we see a lot of small forwards do now with regularity. What Modra did was Ablett, Dunstall, Locket, Franklin level stuff. Once in a generation style freak that is just unstoppable.

No one saying he isn't. Its just not close. Modra played on the best full backs the game had to offer and won his position nearly every single game. Betts dominated as a small forward no one is denying that. But thats genuinely on the 3rd/4th best defenders. I'd rank Tex above Eddie no problems. Its just a chalk and cheese battle.

I was there for the Mods mark, he was a great player, the first iconic crows player. But Betts was everything good about footy, and except his last year, was consistently amazing. Truly a joy to watch.
