Just the greatest mark EVER

moorcroft_mark.jpg

Colin Dell.1977. One of the greatest marks of all time. Shame there was no TV camera there to catch it.

Hawthorn players visit their champion player, Peter Crimmins , the night they won the flag, 1976. Crimmo was just holding on to see them win it and passed away shortly after. A special time for Crimmo, who was obviously very sick with cancer but to see the joy on his face would have comforting for his family.

Unfortunately the footage is poor, but this is Michael Mitchell's mark in the WAFL.

Unfortunately it is bloody hard to find any actual footage of them but I reckon he took two (possibly three) of the greatest 20 marks Ive ever seen in VFL / AFL / WAFL history and Kevin Taylor took two of the others.

A opposition player helps a disabled player tie up his shoelaces, quote from the article
“I saw one of our players notice his shoelaces were undone and give him a hand and then I went down to our bench to our reserves coaches and said to them ‘we’ve got to give his kid a goal’,” Gibson said.

My favourite footy photo of all time

Bob Pratt just before the 1935 GF.
PrattonCrutches.jpg

South Melbourne had won the 2nd semi vs Collingwood with Pratt Kicking 6 goals, bringing up his ton for the year. On the Thursday night before the Grand Final, Pratt was hit by a truck (not too much, but enough so that he missed the game).

The significance of the ciggie in the photo is that the driver of the truck offered Pratt a packet of cigarettes as way of apology. He claimed he was a South Melbourne supporter.

Collingwood won the Grand Final.
