Best goal ever?

I don't know if this is the best ever, but it is certainly my favourite.

The fact he bested both Matera and McKenna says it all.

Could you imagine a team with Bradley on one wing and Matera on the other. Opposition players wouldn't get a single wink of sleep the night before a game.

Man I miss the one-on-one, free-flowing, openness of this era.

This is also worth a mention.

Priddis showing his 'elite' usage of the ball there. And he had all the time in the world.
Funny you should pick that up.

Was looking at some old posts on an Eagles forum and in 2007 I commented "Yep, Priddis is developing into a fantastic player. I just wish he'd have half a look before blindly bombing it into the forward 50 from centre clearances (sometimes)."

Nothing's changed!

Was less sitting than 5m from where Braddles kicked that goal with me ma...the memory is still clear as day.

Absolute bloody ripper.

Absolutely. I was lucky enough to be sitting on that wing during this match courtesy of my girlfriend at the time smoozing us into the reserved section. Supporters could barely believe what they'd just seen. All the elements of what we love about footy.

Jealously :D. I could not imagine the reaction when this went through

As I said in another thread once, we were like chimpanzee's jumping around throwing feces at each other. You can hear a bit of it on the clip, the crowd getting a little more worked up as each part unfolded, with the crescendo being the goal umps two fingered signal that Jako didn't get a hand to it.

As noted earlier, it was the quality of players involved that made it so great to watch. McKenna was the preeminent HB of the day and Matera was a jet in 94', so seeing Bradley get away from him made the build up all the more intense. If it was a plodder like Tony Shaw, it just wouldn't have been the same.

Nice, I remember my VHS copy (alot better than the youtube quality) you could see the fans giving the move along while he was bouncing. You could see them shouting. It puts tingles down my spine hahahahaha

I'm a sucker for goals at crunch times in games so for me the Blight one has to be the best ever. Other goals I remember clearly are Grant's goal to sink the bombers in 2000, Hird against the Eagles in 2004 and the goal Fev kicked at football park to beat the crows in 2004 irc. Buddys goal in the 2011 prelim was great and would probably be even higher had they won but that's how it goes, ditto GAJ's goal against the Power in 2007.

In terms of odd but brilliant goals I like this one, still don't know how it managed to go the best part of 55 metres, was it a deliberate shot? Surely it must have been.

Daicos goal in first post.

Lines it up from the wrong pocket and puts it through on the full, someone commented slomg the lines of ...blokes do that every week now ...in this thread. Which goes to show the lack of understanding of how brilliant and once in a lifetime this goal is. The build up and atmosphere is great, but the execution on that angle is incredible.

I was coming to post about this one - being my biased pick. It was at Princess Park and from where I was standing behind the kick, the ball was going no where other than through the middle of the posts.

My non biased selection didn't end up being a goal, but Peter Dacos as Victoria Park against Melbourne was deep in the pocket and as the ball came to him, he was already getting man handled by his opponent. He grabs the ball with one hand and swivels the oponent whilst being half tackled and slung, to hold his kick until being twisted to the only angle that would have the ball go right through the middle. Half way through the sling and a second before he puts his boot through the ball, the umpire blows for a hold in the middle of the ground 25m off the ball.

Anyone else, you would have said it was a fluke.
