Although it’s very frustrating watching Bont go up in the ruck and players making poor decisions in the forward line and below average kicking for goal I’m still backing Bevo to get us in the finals and then who knows from there.
As far as new assistant coaches go, we need to give them more than 4 games before we start laying the boots in.

The assistant coaches should be selected by the board after vigorous screening. They should be assessed entirely on merit with little to no weight given to who Bevo is or isn't already mates with.

So we’re 1-3, need to go probably 11-7 or 12-6 from here to make the bottom half of the eight, need to win four finals probably including a trip to Brisbane or Sydney.
In the meantime demons are 4-0, Brisbane 3-1 with their only loss a close one away to Geelong, Geelong also 3-1 with their only loss away to Sydney, and Sydney 3-1 with their only loss away to the dogs. Other teams like Carlton and Freo are banking wins too.
Our home and away form since the Essendon game last year is LLLLLWL. Bevo still refuses to play a second ruck and we have a dearth of AFL standard KPDs. Our forwards couldn’t hit a barn door from three yards and everyone knows it.
It’s been an abysmal start to the season, with the worst part that almost all the key issues - ruck/KPD depth, team selection, poor goal kicking - have been issues for years. It’s embarrassing.
I suspect we will make finals like you say, and might even win one or two before coming up against a more balanced, rested team and getting beaten. Moral victory for the dogs again, rinse and repeat next year until the prime of Bont, Macrae etc is wasted.

An average player at WC/Sydney/Hawthorn who always looked like he only showered once a year.
A defender who played 56 games over 8 years, kicked 13 goals 16 behinds in toto.
And he's our forward coach?

Can’t blame Bevo for the choice of assistant coaches. The blame purely lies in the board for allowing this ti happen. It’s tine to bring in a new president Luke Darcy and poach Alan Richardson or a somebody similar to replace Chris Crant as football director

I don't mind that we are shit again. If anything it's a relief. Some of my favourite years of supporting footy were 2013/2014. When you're so shit you just go to the footy expecting to lose and you actually have fun and have a laugh. If you lose by ten goals then so what? You expected it. When you happen to pinch the odd win it's awesome because it's a surprise. That's how footy should be. Not following some serious team who you expect to win or come close every week. That's just stressful. Let the Geelongs and Richmonds play their serious football. I just want us to go back to the old Doggies like under Macca. Go out and have a crack every week but most importantly just be able to have a laugh. It's a lot more relaxed.

Yeah that’s the sad part it reflects more of our non success in the history of our football club. Take the 2016 flag away we go out in straight sets in most final games and looking at this year form we played average teams in the 2021 final campaign until the final game and. we know the result of that game
