A good win against an undermanned Leaseplan, finally got ourselves a 9-pointer, and all the girls had plenty of it which was good. The Bigfooty Bulldogs umpiriing panel did well, Dave did a good job with the whistle, complicated game to umpire.

I think it depends which week you play the staff team, some weeks they show up and others they are short.

What about the great goal umpiring in the second half?!

hey scooter,

we were getting pasted in the first half but our superior fitness and ability to handle the warm conditions gave us the edge in the second half and we scraped home by 4 points. The game was almost identical to that game we played against spurs last season but the end margin was probably even closer. We switched to the 2 man defence in the second half and although outnumbered we managed to force the spurs out wide on all their shots for goal, stopping their free scoring. Once we had the kick in i think we scored nearly every time. Using the huddle formation in the middle we were bulldogsesque in our run and conversion from set plays. Our 2xm and 1xf forward line were all scoring and we snuck over the line.

For dave and I that jubilation was short lived after the game, while leaving just round the corner a dog wondered over the road and after some efforts to catch it it ran on to the main road only to be hit by a speeding commodore with blue lights right in front of us. The car didn't even stop to see what they had done, while dave had to put the animal out of it's misery.

anyway back at the whitten oval next week, can't wait.

i even had flags. (although they were actually 2 twigs with leaves on them)

Pembleton and I were too busy trying to take marks over each other and then trying land one on onslaughts head whilst returning the ball :)

Just a reminder that we are playing back at our home ground Whitten Oval on Monday.

Andrew Wilks from the Bulldogs has sent notice that because of last week’s changes, we will be playing at 7.15pm against the Spurs (2).

na not yet, we played the western bulldogs, tanks and the spurs.
we've got the spurs again tonight.

we've worked them out now, so we should win, hopefully.

what were the changes?

Last week we played spurs 1 even though we were fixtured to play spurs 2, whose entire team was apparently busy getting ready for a missy higgins concert.

Works out well for us, because spurs 1 apparently had their best player missing last week.

Jane is missing again tonight and for next week, because she has uni exams.

Gday Ernie... I replied to your private message, but your mailbox was full, clear some space!

Bring some runners and shorts down just in case you do want to play, I'm sure we can rotate players off the bench.... should be a lot of fun tonights game.

It is looking ugly out there...I might be there without the missus if this keeps up - kids outside + rain = BAD, BAD, BAD.

LATE NOTICE!

The opposition have decided to forfeit tonight due to low numbers.

Ive rung everyone I can to let them know its a no-show.

Spurs2 decided they couldnt get a team together :(

Well despite Spurs2 bailing out on the game last night, we still got 4 of us down for a kick-to-kick near the goals at the southern end.

The new surface is absolutely magnificent! Its going to be great playing on it next week against LeasePlan. There are just a few sandy spots, but the grass is green and cut quite short, it will definitely help our highly skilled game plan.

After our exhaustive skills session...We headed into the for a drink at the Bar, but decided that a meal sounded even better.

Those $12 Mad monday meals that the club provides are great value.
2 Course meal
1 Free drink (including beer)
$1 Mystery Bet
3 $1 coins for playing on the pokies (or pocketing)
Entry into a draw for $100.

Food was bloody good as well. Definitely will be eating at the Bistro after our decisive win next Monday.

Just a reminder that we play Leaseplan at 6:30 back at the Whitten Oval on Monday night.

Player registrations are due, so please bring along your $40.

For those of us with children, on Fridays kids eat free.

We went a few weeks back. Good food, huge serves and not expensive at all.

The kids run around a bit but just about everyone there had their own kids so there were no problems.

Probably the wrong place to go for a first date or if you get annoyed easily by children ...

On the ticket it actually mentions that the price only increased to $12 in early september. Its crazy good value.

After good early form, Bigfooty Bulldogs lost to Leaseplan by a fair margin.
We led by 9 points at half-time, kicking with a decent breeze.

Unfortunately it was all leaseplan in the second half, who made use of free players to win convincingly in the end.

With a full side we may well have beaten them, but unfortunately we are still critically short on female players. C'mon girls we really need you! where are you?

Considering they had a loose defender and a forward for the entire game, I thought we did well.

Their free girl in the forward line kicked four 9-pointers. Ouch.

Their free defender was nice. She talked to me while i was watching their free forward smash us :)

It really is a fun game though. Some more female blood would be nice and handy.
