Why Doch and not JSoS? Simply career risk factor vs flag chance. Docherty wants to take the risk because he is at the end of his career so gamble is worth it to be part of a flag.

JSoS has a 5+ block of years to go in his career. Not worth the risk.

This exactly. Doc would rather take the risk in finals, rather than have to get through a full preseason and home and away season for another possible chance next year.

We knew the injury reports were telling us something.

Yes

Sam Docherty (knee)
• Has been able to progress to the next stage of his rehabilitation (non-contact, light skills training)
• Will continue to work through this phase of his recovery over the coming months

I was doubtful but it seems so. And possibly the real reason we only took one MSD selection
Certainly Doc has the incentive to get back ASAP. He is our second oldest and has a significant injury history. He would love a spot at the big dance, and we know he will earn it.

Returns from ACL’s are usually conservative, but when a player could conceivably be on his last contract, the goal posts vary considerably. A decision only Sam can make, but every confidence he will put the club before himself and not play if not ready.

Maybe the letter D on the left cheek and letter C on the right is all you’ll need..…:p

Wendy O Williams of the Plasmatics comes to mind. Not sure why.
