Problem for him, is by time he is back that opportunity may not arise again because Weitering will be back before him and probably Mitch too.

True. Im thinking maybe Durdin gets another gig next season in OMac's spot.

Was announced Sunday / Monday after the celebration of his return in the game last weekend. REporting covers some soreness, then a scan, and a meniscus tear which can happen and did happen because of course he is a defender!
We are cursed I tell you. I want a full report on my desk Monday regarding which player killed Bambi

Is it possible to have a suspected chronological injury list without the summary and just show weeks?
Does this work? I'm updating it every week (this was prior to the Thurs match):

Ordered injury list 14-Jun:

Recently recovered:

Club "Health Ratings":

(note, not all clubs updated this week). Woohoo, we're not last...

Expected player return by opposition/week:

As always, expected return dates are mostly mine, based on best estimate from what the club says.

Thanks I like the last link best 👍🏻
Gee the next few rounds are going to be a challenge. I’m liking the development of cotters
Was the only highlight for me and a late game mention for Harry and shame about Cripps’ 150th

Weitering did an interview a few weeks back where he said he was hopeful to be back for the Saints game.

Admittedly he said he was more likely to back for the Eagles game but it’s not a stretch he could be available for the Saints.
If the Ukraine war was over he’d have already got his parts delivered and would’ve been back 3 weeks ago.

I just watched the last quarter again and Durdin seemed to hurt his knee when Nank fell on him with about 14.30 left to go in the last but was still on the field chasing in the lead up to their final goal with 9 minutes left and we then hear from Daisey he has been subbed.
I reckon we’ve gamed the system to get Fog out there after Balta got subbed.

Surprised to read that we’d already subbed off Martin with his calf.
“Subbed out in the fourth quarter against Richmond with calf tightness”

I think it might be easier if we start listing the players who are not injured along with their expected injury date.

Russell: Player X has just been introduced into the senior side. We expect him to have a 4-6 week playing block before reintroducing him back into the injury list...

Note: Player X has not been specifically named, in case they are watching....

You know the inj*ry g*ds...Theyre always watching...

I think he is a superb athlete and manipulates his and his opponents weight and momentum very well it’s just well documented that muscular hypertrophy plays a significant role in injury prevention. Plenty of peer reviewed studies supporting this.

Interesting watch on Prime Training today w/ Tom Mitchell who mentioned that both Lance Franklin and Josh P Kennedy would bench about 60kg, yet both are considered strong on field. So I do take your point, just speculating as to whether or not in Martins case he could benefit from some additional muscle on his frame.
You have to consider muscle fibre distribution, glycogen storage and clearance, adiposity levels and distribution. Everybody's different and there's plenty of aerobically gifted people who have a very high strength to weight ratio.

He may already have all the muscle mass you think he needs, could be overbuilt in the lower leg for all we know (though probably not).

Surely we need to do a big review of injury management at the end of the season. Not saying it is all Russell's fault (a number of areas could contribute) but this happens year after year and I refuse to accept it is just bad luck. The way I see it there are 3 areas. 1) Who we recruit, 2) How we prevent injuries and 3) How we rehabilitate them. Part of the review should be an honest assessment on a number of our injury prone players and strong calls as to who we can afford to keep on the list going forward.

I imagine this was covered in last years review but obviously still a major issue. I doubt the club is happy to accept the status quo.
Thinking carefully about it, there's probably a culture amongst the players of not self-reporting issues early on, when preventative measures might see them get up for games they wind up missing, or shortening injury timelines.

Hopefully the shortened layoffs of Walsh, McKay and Weitering are a sign of some buy-in from the players. Physio department is supposed to be world class, but that was as of 5-8 years ago. The doctors have rarely fallen under scrutiny, but I'm not sure what their purview is after an injury assessment, and whether they look into chronic recurrences and complications.
