I can confirm that Murphy's agent has been calling clubs to assess the "lay of the land" - whether the club has "forced Murphy's hand" by bringing up the captaincy issue I can't say, but his management has used that issue in their conversations with other clubs.

Assuming that being the case, Murphy would be somewhat naive to think that his captaincy was set in stone.

I'd bet it wouldn't be the captaincy alone and more likely SOS not being ready to discuss Murphys future post 2018.
Given the way SOS has been handling things with senior players, this shouldn't have come as a surprise to Murphy either.......if he is shopping around.

I know it fun to do and might end up with egg on my face (happy to be soaked in egg if it happens), however can we stop putting Sloane and Scully into the equation... especially Sloane.

I'm stoked with Kennedy nominating us, he will be a gun for a long time. Hopefully Smith is close to follow. I'd say Rockliff is a 60% chance if we are matching Port's offer. Would like Saad but he isn't worth a first rounder. I'm thinking a pick around the 30 mark is fair, maybe GC would accept Boekhurst and our 4th or something?

Big if true. Where there's smoke.... and there has been a bit of smoke re: Murphy of late. Hope it's not true.

Marcus Clark is a tool.....he uses the gym frequently and even has the masseur give him rub downs.......these are player facilities....
Even after games he is in the rooms with sunglasses on.......he aggravates the players....

This being the case, how do we allow board members to 'mix' with footballers?
Absolute recipe for disaster is a board member spending time in the football department.
Why doesn't MLG step in? Has Bolton aired his grievances?

You're putting scully back into the equation by saying especially sloane

Aphrodite, did Chief never tidy up that thread split? :p

More wild bullshit about the board. Clearly part of a faction that doesn't like the direction of the club at present.

I get why people might like Lethlean from a pure numbers perspective, but if that's all business were, you'd never innovate.

The Demons were an absolute mess when he left, he was right to go.

Jimmae.....you have a football department that runs football....and then you have a Board that runs the finances of the club and general direction...
the football department is doing a good job.......like Ratts was in 2011 when we were challenging......but a bad board brought that undone....
I don't want to see the good work of the past few years undone by a bad board........

Getting rub from the masseuse is a bit cheeky, but surely the gym facilities are open to anyone involved in the club? Pretty standard sort of practise for organisations like a footy club.

That side could match it with most...dare I say....

Which part is bullshit and how do you know it to be? Because you want it to be?
The Carlton board has played a large part in our miserable period since circa 1995 and that's somewhat hard to argue.

I'd love to call out Angel Duster as a troll, but history tells me I can't just yet.

The board appointed the current football department... they literally set up the process.

As for Clark getting a rubdown, I agree that's a bit much.

Why shouldn't we put Scully into the equation?

Barrass has said three times now that we are interested and that he is in the mix.

Wouldn't be interested in Sloane, myself.

Trading Gibbs out to secure two young kids, then topping up with Rockliff as a FA, makes sense for our list progression.

Paying a premium for Sloane (Gibbs + change) has us treading water at best.

Love Sloane as a player, and if he was a FA I'd have him ahead of Rockliff by a mile - but for our club, where we are, and at the necessary price, no thanks.

If everyone could stop being idiotic for a moment, we're not getting Sloane, we're not giving up pick 3 and we're yet to complete a trade for any of Kennedy, Saad, Smith or some other numpty who might see their future in Navy Blue.

Barrass has said three times now that we are interested and that he is in the mix.
Hopefully the conversation goes like this:

GWS: We want pick 3.
SOS: Then throw in Scully and your future first.
GWS: Not keen on that, what else do you have other than your future 2nd?
SOS: Pick 38
GWS: what else?
SOS: What high-value contracts do you want to churn? Shaw? Mumford?
GWS: You can't talk us out of value, we need to go to the draft.
SOS: I've set my price.

[SOS contacts Scully's manager, who then leaks the story to the press]
[Scully requests trade to Carlton if possible]

SOS: Kennedy and Smith for the future 2nd and you can keep Scully.
GWS: [sullen voice] ok

Perhaps I'm alone in this, but I'm not keen on Scully. The way he left the Demons has never sat comfortably with me. I know he was young and all, with a crazy offer in front of him, but I've never much liked the guy since. Probably impacted my rating of him as a player as well.

I think you right - you are alone on this!

If theres any legs to this Sloane rumour i doubt Gibbs would be going anywhere . Why would you go back home to a side with a view of winning a flag that has just lost Lever + Sloane while we seem to be bolstering our midfield ( praying for Rockliff ) and could take off in the near future .
