In that case it will increase the importance of bringing in some genuine speed thereafter.

From the apparent standout top 3 at the draft, are any of them on the slow side?

Who are the apparent standout top 3? I'm not sure, nor do i really know about their speed.. i keep hearing Rayner, Davies-Uniacke's names

What's Kennedy's speed like?

Obviously PC is a superstar but has concrete boots. Critical that we flank him with genuine speed. Rockliff & Gibbs aren't quick either.

Curnow-like I think - not quick, but strong enough on the burst that he can shrug a tackle and find a little space at times.

He won't make us a quicker side, but that's not why we're recruiting him. Need to find the outside runners now to feed off Cripps, Kreuzer, Kennedy and potentially Rockliff. We have a few who can play that role (Cunners, SPS, Willo, Murphy) but Smith and another pacy mid rotation like Saad would be handy. Stephenson at pick 3 is a possibility, but someone like Rayner may still be the smart recruitment rather than reaching for needs. Tim Kelly with a late second or early third would be the dream I think.

I don’t recall agro haven’t quality inside info either - but at the same token, I don’t recall agro being one to post lots of rumours either - in that respect, it’s a rumour worth taking note of/discussing as an exercise (rather than gospel or instant dismissal of rumour)
Fair point. I won't begrudge others wishing to talk about it (others will, so be warned), but I will dismiss it.

Stephenson or Fogarty for me, Stephenson for speed X Factor good overhead Mark too. 1.90 cm wingers don't grow on trees gives us felexibilty , Fogarty is a gun too , but is he a luxury ? we already have Charlie ? depends on how Bolton plans to to develop him lastly A. Brayshaw well balnced gritty midfield like him.
Go Baggers

I have no issues with Agro as a poster on here, but I can't recall him having any quality inside info. That doesn't mean that somebody can't sometimes stumble upon something without having regular info, but personally I don't think there's anything in it, so I won't be putting any more thought into it than this.

I did with Kennedy but have to fess up I didn't get that shoulder reco bit.

OK, silly hypothetical time. But based off some solid rumours/assumptions.

Gibbs + 38 > Pick 10 +52
So we now have picks 3 & 10.

Next, trades with GWS
  • We want Kennedy, Smith & Scully.
  • Kennedy & Scully I gets done with pick 10 (with some adjustments)
  • Scully would require pick 3 on the table
Trade 1: Kennedy & Smith only

Pick 10 +2018 3rd (~45) > for Kennedy, Smith + 25
We trade pick 10 (a little overs) so get 25 thrown in (which makes it a bit much our way). Would give them 38 to balance, but we don't have any more.

Trade 2: Kennedy Smith & Scully

Pick 3 + 2018 3rd (45) > Scully, Kennedy, Smith & Mumford (salary dump)
Yes, I know we don't want to trade pick 3 unless for elite talent.
Yes I know we are all still shell-shocked by trading pick 7 for Mrs KJ's son, Wile E Coyote and a stick of Bratwurst, BUT....

By trading pick 3, we get to keep pick 10. So now the trade turns into 3 + 25 for Scully + 10. Effectively 25 for Scully and downgrade 3 to 10.

What if SOS doesn't rate the top 3? What if he really wants Stephenson/Brayshaw/Coffield?

Should we do it? Would you do it? I think I would.....

Do you mean to land all of the prospective targets?

Or for cap reasons?

Or...?

I don't think we're going to get all of Kennedy, Smith, Saad and Rockliff.

But I can see how we do it.

Pick 3 + 38 + 2018 Second Round for Pick 7+ 8

Pick 8 for Smith/Kennedy + Pick 40 (let's assume GWS gets this amongst the Wilson swap)

Pick 7 for Pick 19 + Adam Saad

Now I don't like the above.

I think it sucks.

But we can do it.
I think pick 3 is a huge priority. I think we needn't worry about getting saad unless we trade Byrne eg.

I know our team is young but I think they have, at least, aged enough to not need Mummy.

If we recruit Kennedy and Rockcliffe, I definitely agree that we will need to use Pick3 for midfield speed. The good thing is that LDU, Stephenson and Dow are all very quick in different ways. LDU has that composed power burst, kind of reminds me of C.Judd (Carlton version) the way he moves. Dow is more that constant, hit the ball at breakneck speed and likes to move in and out of traffic quickly (almost to the point he runs into trouble sometimes... can be ironed out). Stephenson is more that outside run and carry player with plenty of zip, can get out of traffic and take off into space. Then there is Rayner who is deceptively quick, comparisons to Martin and Petracca, I think he is quicker than both and more a Toby Greene type player. Either choice and we get a kid that will have elite speed.
