Seems blues fans quite happy to let Daisy off the hook for meagre output and big pay. And we are stuck with him again. Lots of talk of Murph and Gibbs of inconsistency. With Bolts blessing we signed the campaigner up early...It would have been better to have some room for a Griffen or best case scenario Scully type I would have thought. Of all our dealings this resign has me the least excited of any of them.
your not taking into account....He is a ripper bloke !!!

Alarm bells going off on Devon Smith when one of his major factors for deciding on a new club is the rehab process and facilities. Quoted from his manager on trade radio earlier today: "A big one for Devon is the player management, how they manage the players (coming) back through rehab,"

Good post.....Blues don't want him....

I'm so sick of reading statements like these about what or whom a " true supporter " should be. People support the club in different ways. Some are members , some arent. Some attend games. some don't. Doesn't make them any less a " true supporter " than you are. Nor does having differing opinion make them less of a " true supporter". I'm sick of BS like this. Who the hell are you to decide who is and isn't a " true supporter " ? Rant over.
fair rant

While there are slight similarities, I think the differences are quite large.
The sole purpose of a list manager is to build the best team that he can for his employer. That doesn't change from one team to the next.
A player manager that knows they are about to move into a list managers role while still representing players that are out of contract and/or asking for trades, can attempt to fill both roles with an eye to the new role.
I wonder if we would be as blase about it if Cripps' manager moved into a list manager role at WC as Cripps was coming out of contract?
SOS can try to entice players over from his past club, but it's up the player and their manager to work out what's best for them. In this scenario Smith's manager can ignore better monetary offers or better fits for his client, while trying to nudge him towards his new employer because he knows he will benefit from it in a few months time. While he can't make up Smith's mind, he can certainly influence it.

There is the issue of Smith's dodgy knee, his manager would know "how dodgy" it is and Collingwood will have the benefit of that information.

I wake up to Rocky to Port! Sorry for the bum steer all. I can only assume that Port upped their offer at the last minute and we were not willing to match it.

All good, things change

The lever situation is quite enjoyable to watch. To see reports that their captain blasted him over the phone, that the coach was quite unpleasant at the news... oh and he is uncontracted. If you believe in karma, you’d almost say this is karma for what they did with us last year with Gibbs....

You reap what you sow.

I guess Adelaide are upset that they don't have any..... Lever-age....

SORRY!

Been following this discussion for a while now, but after seeing all this negativity having 'missed out' on Rocky I have decided to finally make an account!

1. Yes it is 95% likely that Rockliff is off to Port Adelaide, however stranger things have happened before. We are yet to see a statement from either Carlton or Rockliff camps, and until he is officially signed I am clenching onto the smallest amount of hope.

2. Been seeing a lot of "How are we supposed to get Kennedy & Smith without trading Gibbs and completely ******* our midfield?!". SOS is a wizard and will obviously have a plan for this. A couple of options that spring to mind are:

a) Trade #3 (and maybe someone like Graham) to St Kilda for #7 and #8. If SOS has identified someone outside of LDU and Rayner (who Saints are desperate for) that he can snare at #7, then this is a definite possibility. Recent players taken at #7 include Hopper, Wines, and J Selwood.

- On trade #8 and #38 to GWS for Kennedy, Smith and #25.

- We are left with #7, #25, Kennedy, and Smith for #3 and #38.

b) Trade our future second (most likely between #19 and #26) for Kennedy

c) Trade our future second + #38 for a top 15-20 selection this year, who we on trade for Kennedy and Smith (possibly involves a later exchange of picks). GWS could go for this as they currently only have two selections inside the top 60.

3. Last year everyone was wondering how on earth will Hawthorn snare JOM and Mitchell. They got it done. Don't stress yet lads/ladies, there's a lot of time to play out.

To me it reads like GWS are seriously sub-par with S&C/doctors/rehab, just like GCS.

I don't think it's an issue of Smith seeking state of the art facilities and miracle workers to fix his knees but rather checking out that his destination has a capable department so that if something flares up he won't be burdened by them like he has been at GWS.

Prestia struggled to stay on the park before this year. Swallow apparently sought his own doctors down in Melbourne to help him get back to playing. Both clubs have had a wretched run with injury over their duration and it might not be purely a heap of bad luck.

I keep seeing something along these lines, would we be happy with Pick 7 being our highest pick? Surely Saints aren't going to take Graham or someone, no matter how desperate they are for Pick 3 and Rayner?

Spot on.

We can be overly critical of our players. But heaven help us if we ever had a 200cm, 108kg giant who was unwilling and/or incapable of doing anything remotely involving physical contact. They gave him 750+k per year to be the AFL equivalent of the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man. But it's more than that. Jenkins was already entering his age 28 season when he was on the first year of that contract. He has another 4 years left.

Now that money is tied up and they have a young gun who should have gotten his share of that salary cap allotment they can't give him that contract. I find it increasingly laughable that they came out and said yesterday that by giving Lever marginally more than that he'd become their highest paid player. That means Jenkins is easily within their top 5 highest paid players.]

What a hoot.

Was I the only one that read the second sentence and thought 'D Gorringe'? Gorringe was not the new black, as we know
