Hopefully we don't see Craig in the new line-up. Maybe Fagan can be brought across by Bolt's.
Butters can go if deemed time but I'm sure there goes more loot on a curtailed contract.
Here is a nice article on Fagan and his great influence at Hawthorn. He doesn't sound like the kind of guy that would just leave Hawthorn unfortunately. You can see that Bolton has learnt a lot fromhim though!

Yeah/nah/maybe. Been rumoured for a while. While he hasn't seen too much success at Melbourne (who has) or Essendon* (who cares), he had a good coaching record at Adelaide and has a very diverse skill set (coaching, fitness-conditioning, administration) and qualifications (MA in Education, Sport Science). Would prefer to see Craig on staff rather than Buttifant.

I didnt catch much of the show, but caught the end of some Yarran talk. One of the knobs said about him going to the PSD and him going to Brisbane.
Thats when I tuned out.

FFS you dont go to the PSD when you are already contracted.

Trent Croad was a favourite in the same way Menzel would be a favourite if he hadn't been injured.

Not even close to the love for the big K fella.
I'll leave it to the club to decide what is best. If it's pick 3 and that player is part of our next flag, I'll be sad about losing Kreuzer, but will move on. If the club thinks we must keep him, that's fine too. We're in a tough place and tough decisions must be made.

I've moved towards this camp as well.

But people keep using the Croad example as it's the normal outcome when it was one that they got 100% correct hell, Croad even came back and played in a flag!. How many trades end up so wonderfully well for the party taking the risk.

My biggest fear is, should Krooz get injured, the endless posts saying we should have traded him.

You know those posts have already been drafted and saved.

Like wise if he is a super star at another club all the posts that we should have kept him.

The blood sucking media will have a crack both ways

You can't trade relative to what might occur.
no but past injury history may well influence how hard nosed we are about letting him go for a very high draft pick. I think we've always done the right thing by Kreuzer and vice-versa so I don't think there needs to be too much guilt or angst however it should play out. If he goes it will likely be to a club in contention and the pain at leaving would be offset by playing in, and hopefully winning, finals.

To me Kreuzer isn't playing in our next flag but he may have an important role to play in helping protect and develop the young players who will. But....will leave that to the judgment of SOS and Bolton and trust they know best.

From a purely business point of view it would be irresponsible to keep krooz if it meant recieving pick 3 as compensation, given his injury concerns over the years.

From a purely emotional point of view it would be devastating to lose krooz.

Bloody tough call for the club to make. I don't envy their position.

This is where it swings for mine. Are we confident he is over his ailments? If so, keep. If not, keep anyway. small green laughing emo

.and probably easier to justify should he tear it up somewhere else, if we can point to a healthy and developing
pick 3.
Looks like the decision has been made anyway.
Exciting times.

How can they be sure? I don't think any of his conditions are chronic but his recent history would suggest he's injury prone.

I'd be prepared to punt on his body holding together. The combination of Cripps and Kreuzer carving up the opposition is just too enticing to ignore.

The important thing is that we have a rebuilding plan and make decisions accordingly. By that we need to know what sort of players we need to get to be premiership contenders and have a time frame and we have to know how we plan to bring those players into the club. It's important that we make decisions that improve the side/list in the long term and that our decisions that we make regarding players future aren't influenced by popularity, emotional attachment, membership or members and are made purely because to benefit the list long term and will have a positive influence on our long term success. Popular decisions are always a feel good but aren't always the right decisions. In regards to Kreuzer, lets look at our players like stocks which they effectively are more or less, he's at the peak of his career and probably won't ever be worth any more than he currently is but in saying that we would really have to be getting something very good in return. We should leave no stone unturned in our quest for good footballers and our ultimate goal and that is building a side that can win a premiership. There are still plenty of steps we need to take to become a modern football club and acting, trading, recruiting, playing and list management is all a big part of how we shape our future. There are no right and wrong decisions in regarding who we trade or let go until we know what we will gain, at this stage leaving player contracts open until we do know is a good sign of a little professionalism showing at Carlton. We would look very foolish if we sign a ruckman at the expense of obtaining a center half forward or a top level onballer so we're best to enquire.

Gbatman not long after yet another post suggesting it may be worthwhile trading Kreuzer:
