No, we were told we had to make a request to receive anything.
Gold Coast were going to be given a lot more than what they got. Our request meant a lot of their assistance got pushed back the the next year.
Well yes... that's 2018, like I said. We made the request when it became plain that otherwise we'd lose pick 1 to Gold Coast.

We traded a future second round pick (which became pick 20) for picks 48, 66 and 70. This allowed Hawthorn (who had traded their F1) to trade a F2 in order to get Jaeger O'Meara. The pick was the one we received for Zac Touhy (along with Billie Smedts)
Factually incorrect. Please go back and look at the trade. Correct your post.

Hollands hasn’t asked for a trade though. But surely he would have disclosed to Suns and Us what he wants to do Right?
I may be wrong but I thought I read something from the Suns saying they've had their exit interview and while hr mentioned Carlton they're yet to hear from Carlton when asked about the trade.

Felt like they were suggesting they're not motivated to go out and initiate the trade but if it happens they're open to it kind of quote.

Hmmm. Not sure how that is “going to the draft” to be honest.
As I say, nothing is set in stone.
But the ‘going to the draft’ would need to be viewed across the next two drafts.

Ben is tracking to be a top 10 if not higher prospect. So getting up to 8 this year, and then another top 10 talent next year + the traditional later picks.

Sorry, I misread wikipedia. It's quite a complex series of trades but if I have it right now:

1. Geelong F1, pick 63 and Billie Smedts traded for Carlton F2 and Zac Touhy
2. Carlton trade F1 (from Geelong above) along with picks 45 and 58 to GWS for Caleb Marchbank, Jarrod Pickett and GWS F2
3. Carlton trade GWS F2 for picks 48, 66 and 70 to Hawthorn
4. Hawthorn then traded pick 10 and their F2 (which they couldn't trade if not for our deal) to Gold Coast for O'Meara

So the F2 we sent to Hawthorn in that deal was GWS's, not our own (which we had sent our F2 to Geelong already in the Touhy trade).

It was actually a reasonably deep draft with plenty of good players taken from our pick 48 (which became 47) onwards: Darcy Cameron, Lewis Young, Elliott Himmelberg, Willie Rioli, Jack Graham, Luke Ryan, Nick Larkey, Harry Morrison, Mitch Lewis, Jake Waterman were all available in the national draft, and then Draper, Stengle, Ladhams, Jack Henry, Robbie Fox, Oscar McInerney available in the rookie draft. Lots of good players availalble... just a pity we missed all of them!

My understanding is the two picks we acquired and maybe a bit extra would be used to net GC F1 + Hollands.

We don’t want F1 picks for next year, so our F1 and GC F1 for pick 8 and future points.

It’s far from a done deal, but it’s a possibility.

GC currently have just over 4000 points in value, Jed will cost them 2000 alone, and they have 3 more players they want to net from their academy.

In essence we trade Pick 17, Fisher, our future 1st and maybe the Dow currency gets involved for Pick 8, Hollands and enough points to pay for the Camporeale twins.

Seems like good business to me if we consider our future 1st should be 15+. Fisher and Dow weren't best 22, and we have hopes that Hollands will be.

2 late first rounders and 2 fringe players for 2 best 22 players when all is said and done with 2 more decent players on their way next year and already paid for.

Then we have the 2025 1st rounder still able to be used to play with in next years trade period once we have a sense of where the twins will go.

We aren't necessarily addressing all of our needs, but when you come into the trade period holding a late first rounder and nothing before the 4th round, it's pretty difficult to do that.

Can someone please explain how we get the Campo twins if we’re happy to give away F1 pick, but still need points to get them, albeit at a 20% discount due to F/S rule?

Particularly if Ben is like a top 5 prospect?

If a club tries to get him at pick 3 (say), we’d have to stump up significant points via picks to match.

I feel I’m missing something….

Won't be hard to get a few 3rd and 4th round picks to cover. Not sure what you think the problem is.

Flat footed?
Top speed is... interesting. But it might be something that comes with development, though I'm not convinced.

Guess we'll see more with athletic testing soon.

The incentive is for us to trade down for a bunch of picks that would amount to more points than our F1 picks while getting a boost this year. We're not interested in the top of the draft if one of the twins is projected to go top 5-10, and the other is projected to go 15-30.

We'd need to give up a lot to get ahead of that run, so seemingly it's projecting to be better to trade down. I would be doing the bulk of it in 2024 myself, as there's a lot to play out in a fairly even league.

PommyinOz mentioned something in one of his videos that we also pre-signed a number of other young talents when our crew were on their recruiting spree in Ireland. Which basically means that we have first right of refusal on these kids at a time when the draft will be heavily compromised with the Tassie team coming in.

I think I'm developing a man crush on Austin :thumbsu:;)
This is smart, as was the Fisher trade... but Dow for peanuts and Hollands for overs leaves us middling out when we're still missing a few pieces of the puzzle.

Dow is worth more than Hollands, particularly against AFL opposition.

The idea is to trade our future first for enough future picks to cover the value loss.

So future first for two future seconds and a future third total.

This way we can get more value for the pick and get what we want this year done.

There’s been a lot of suggestion that we want to trade our F1 to try and get pick 8 this year. How would we get picks for next year.

(All speculation at this point though)

You're overvaluing Dow.

Trade picks or cut a few players. It's really not that hard. It happens every year. Have you had your head in the sand to not know this?

I don’t really care for F/S that aren’t Carlton so I’ve never really investigated the rules and strategies.

JSOS was the last I remembered and he wasn’t rated highly.

Also thinking Ben will be bid on at pick 3 is currently a very strange thought.
