Carrol , owies , little durds , pitto , Kennedy , cerra , Motlop , hollands brothers , cottrell, kemp , we can find someone to trade for trac and make it work

None of those will work.

Media were saying that McKay + a first round pick would be a starting point. Imagine what they would request if you chose one of those players instead.

I think it's real poor form from the media laying their boots into trac saying he needs to toughen up and see out his contract and is absolute bs! In what other job do you sign contracts to stay on for years?

I recently left a contracted teaching position as the school treated me like a piece of shit, wasn't backed up by the leadership team/prin. Took a real mental toll and i unlike trac didn't almost die.

I reached out to some private schools and in a matter of a couple of weeks secured another teaching job. Loving life, loving the school. Does this make me an arseh*le for leaving a shite workplace -mfc def falls into this category (oliver, goodwin investigation from a couple of years ago, joel smith allegations)

All trac is doing as he has the right to do is seek a better work environment. Anyone who thinks he should stick it out for 5 years is honestly delusional and contrary to their opinion of themself not any form of hero.

In my 20 year teaching career this was the first occasion I jumped ship. Although it was a tough decision to leave the kids I just had to do it. Let's get around him and show some compassion.

Environments can change. Any or all promises made to him re culture issues and things they are doing to keep bring successful, may have changed.

It often takes some sort of assurance to get a player to sign on for lengthy periods. If those assurances aren't happening, you're going to get a disgruntled player.

I'm not sure what to believe. I know he is a meticulously professional player and things have happened at that club that must have been at odds with that.

The media PR machine has moved swiftly to discredit Petracca as only bring interested in his 'brand'.

Petracca can't even come out and give his side now because he might have to walk back into the club. He has to sit there and eat this media cycle.

Heard Trac is on 1 mill / year till 2029. Don't know how much substance there is to that but that's what has been said in the media.

I would imagine MK is not on much either given he was on the rookie list not long ago.

Hewett, yep he might have to be one we get rid of too...

On top of that we'll be getting rid of S.Durdin, Marchbank, Cunners and Martin. Might be enough.

The question I replied to was how can we make cap space for trac , trade wise I know it’s goin for be picks and a mckay or cerra but cap space is easy to find, trade a player for unders to get cap space . Pies style from a few years back

Can't see us trading for Trac and the Bont..
Cost would be too high.

It has been reported that Trac is on a high of $1.7mill and won't fall below $1.2mill per year over the next 5 years. This is on a Damien Barrett article currently on afl.com.au. Not sure how true it is but Damo is laying the boots into Trac so Melbourne may have fed him the figures.

Just tor contexts sake.

The talk about McKay is media driven - as members/supporters we must not accept that narrative and push back, it’s bullshit - and we caved as a club when the media drove the narrative that we had to give up our first rounder for Saad.

If we go down the path of trading for Petracca - it’s picks only - exactly the same as Geelong did for Jeremy Cameron.

I think cap space will come from trade week, delistings etc.

In terms of trade, extremely low chance Cerra + picks gets the job done. Hewett or Kennedy probably would need to be part of the deal instead but I doubt that would even work. McKay doesn’t want to go either.

No idea why people on here are so persistent in nominating people without knowing whether they want to stay or not. Kind of crazy.

I actually think the whole story is b.s.

Obviously made its way through a source somehow but that may have been testing the waters to see whether a trade could eventuate. I’m sure there are agents / managers out there who do this type of thing to see how it plays out. Now that McKay said no, they will probably take a different route at a different club. I mean there is nothing to say he is interested in joining us or was planning on nominating us.

I would not be shocked if Melbourne agree to a trade, but only if he selects one of the clubs that they can get the best deal from. It’s all speculation though so who knows what will happen.

It’s a forum mate , no one knows , keeps us entertained and if people only posted if they knew 100 percent , there would only be 3 people posting …. You say mckay doesn’t want to go today but maybe tomorrow he thinks maybe I don’t want to be second banana to curnow and maybe when I won the Coleman curnow was out injured and maybe I really like not playing finals and want to go to the snow with those Melbourne supporters just maybe

The Demons are handling this very poorly if they're doing that... feeding the media so they can continue portraying him in a negative light... the guy literally nearly died playing for that club...

The exception, not the rule for the players mentioned.

True but I reckon the current coach has added value to the prospect of more finals.

It’s also interesting that while the forward line appears messy we were still fourth for points for in the home and away.

In terms of not adding up, shore up the backline with some robust quality, get rid of first 22 players that don’t play and who knows maybe a new HP boss will be the cherry on top.

Barrett and Lyon have been the two that have defended the dees so far. Reckon their sources are much closer to the club/board rather than to the player….

They all want to stay. It's a blessing and a curse. We have no room to meaningfully improve our list to take the final step.

Next year is the 10th season since we started to rebuild with this core group. We have definitely underperformed, or got certain aspects wrong. Our window is now small.

Probably started from Fev on radio yet again.

Yep, you can ask the same question of every team, but with the players surrounding Petracca why hasn't he brought a premiership prior to 2021 and then again after? If he is the missing piece as you suggest he should have done it more regularly.

I'd give you prime Dustin Martin who did it 3 times with a team of role players as his back up singers, but if Trac is the answer to our woes, why hasn't there been a dynasty for Melbourne? Despite Trac they have spectacularly underperformed with a list the equal of anyones.

Goodwin/culture … some of the very reasons Trac wants out.
