2025 picks available in next years trade period. Don't need to get all our ducks in a row for next season until.... next season.
Maybe I'm just the only one who doesn't want to go into 2025 with a big deficit of picks.

In which case I can already see everyone being like we are this year and just wanting a stronger and stronger draft hand, so we'd be stuck in a loop of trading in future picks until we trade out enough players to catch up and end the cycle haha.

After watching a podcast(Schofield) re Schultz from freo I don’t blame him for leaving, treated poorly.

On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app

Can you please elaborate on the poor treatment (delisted & rookied?)?
Motlop doesn't have much to do in order to bridge the gap between he and Elliott. I wouldn't call Elliott elite, but very good. Motlop has the potential to be the best of his namesake.

However, Schultz would be a huge addition to the side. I do think Durdin will be a 150-200 gamer, he has shown plenty but there are more ?'s for him than there are Motters.

Hollands will be an immediate upgrade on our HFF, serving as a true HFF that can pinch hit in the middle rather than a Zac Fisher/Paddy Dow type. We could outnumber at contest and spread. I see him as a budget Sam Walsh (by way of running capacity, and ability to get in the right spot at the contest for the receive) with great forward nous. He isn't a superstar but he is, for mine, a best 22 player.

I’d ship Motlop off to the west for Schultz, the ol’ straight swap. I don’t particularly like Schultz when watching footy (minimal Dockers) but he’d add another dimension to our forward line that we could do with immediately.
Draft another small forward this draft or down the track to replace the developing Motlop.

We also need a Jamie Elliott type who can take a mark/lead and add to our aerial threats plus be good enough on the ground.

If I was paid to write the clubs press releases, then that's exactly what I'd produce.(after a non-disclosure agreement between Jonesy and his management was signed)
I must be just more forgiving than most around me, and he was obviously 'requested' not to comment.
At the time, commenting wasn’t going to win him any favors & he would have been slammed.
Now, not so much, but I think he’s taking the smart path & hasn’t really said much - think it will help his book sales if he goes down that route.

Easily, have you not watched how this bidding system works?
Makes me think some haven't done the maths on how many points and what sort of picks we'll need to match those (potentially very early) bids.

Ben will very likely go around pick 5 and Lucas potentially pick 20-30, which after the F/S discount is around 2230 points. For reference even if we keep our entire set of 2024 picks and finish 3rd, it's still only 1800 points. So already we need an early future 3rd just to break even, while trading out our future 1st just puts us at a further disadvantage for 2025 and beyond.

I'd rather we go conservative this year while the draft is very shallow and our list needs can be sorted easily.

Jesus H Christ I hate this sort of automatic negativity.

For all you know we had discussions with him.

For all you know he identified Collingwood as a preferred club and his manager only ever spoke to them.

There are countless reasons he might choose them over us. Anything from "they just won a flag" to "their ball movement is really impressive and will suit my game" to "I really like their facilities" to "Blake Acres called me a w***er once and now I don't want to play with him".

Just because we internet peons like a player, it doesn't mean that them going elsewhere is evidence of negligence by our club.

So why does it feel like whenever a decent player is linked to any club other than Carlton we get these personal little rainclouds forming overhead?
1 like for the post, 2nd like for the use of Internet peons as a collective noun. Love it.

Still going on about Liam Jones? What next, Gibbs?

as I said earlier, this time of year sees a massive spike in fear of missing out syndrome - I believe the kids refer to it as fomo......

** wonders if this a good time to publicly revisit the non-decisions to bring Albert Proud and Mitch Thorp to the club?**

Look I didn’t wanna say it but MAN we got ripped by the AFL over Waite going to Norf

None of this would have happened had we gotten Daniel Wells and Brendon Goddard into the club.

Guys, hear me out

Orazio Fantasia

DFA

No? Get ****ed Fev?

Put the campaigner through a proper medical and if he passes chuck him $80k and a rookie list spot (space permitting)

The club needed to go as hard as it could for Horace Ferguson before he crossed to Geelong from Melbourne in 1936.

Should have offered him German Reichsmark’s currency (which would have tripled his investment three years later … until 1945).

An Italian sounding name at Carlton??? 😂 that’ll be the day.

See, these gap filling conversations between seasons are fun.
Liam Henry and Lachie Schultz being traded to Carlton are just as unlikely.

Forced to retire and not by the club.
No... he retired rather that sit out the year on a medical exclusion because he wouldn't get jabbed. He wasn't forced to retire by anybody.

Brisbane was able to get Ashcroft at pick 2 and Fletcher at pick 12, whilst at the same time bringing in Dunkley and Gunston. They had more than enough points by using late 2nds and third round picks.

It’s a non issue and something that we could pay for quite easy.
