Not sure what the question is, but the Compensation rule is this:



The guidelines mentioned in 17.6 (a) (i) aren't published anywhere that I know of, but have heard discussion about where the player's contract fits into the overall comparison of player's contracts. e.g. if in top 25%, 10% etc.

Also worth noting that variation of contracts made under this rule is very limited (if at all possible). e.g. we can't renegotiate Zac Williams' contract, as we signed him as a free agent, and the compensation to GWS was based on the contract written.

They do need capital if they're gunning for Smith and Oliver.

Cats 1st pick is #15, that ain’t getting them Oliver and or Smith. They may have to put SDK up to have any chance of getting those 2.
I’d offer 11 and Pitto, see if we can turn our F1 into a 1st rd pick this year to get us back in the top 20….and pray that Berry/Hotton are still available at our pk.

Oliver and Smith are A graders, high quality midfielders no doubt , if the Cats can mange to complete these trades then a good young player may be let go in the process.
Cats achieve an undisputed elite midfield, reckon a quality tall defender may just be moved on.

Oliver ain’t A grade anymore,Smith is debatable.

Someone needs to come out you would think.

They might be thinking similar to us- Tarde out some less important types for picks plus f1 to GC for 12 then to melb for Oliver.

After further investigation, (once again happy to dm my source), Austin is willing to do 11 and a F1 if we get back Geelong F2. We will only do it if we know that our F2, Geelongs F2 and the owies, Carroll and young pick is enough to get a top 16 back as we want Berry desperately. Our offer to SDK is 5M over 6 years not doing anymore as we need money for weitering and TDK extensions.

Save the salary cap space to target SDK in 12 months time when out of contract.

I'd do it. A proven solution to our KPD issues, which if it nets us a flag, we give away a late first and a mid first, which the drafted players are going to take us another 2 years to develop anyway.
