Can't help but feel Brisbane are going to nick a tall forward from Gold Coast.
This is so frustrating. Perryman regarded as behind his mate Matt Kennedy when both were at GWS.

CHUGGA is still every bit the player Perryman is, they get a first rounder and if he leaves, we will be extraordinarily lucky to get a late second rounder.
I mean Perryman would have been a first year player then, and still touted as a midfield prospect. Plenty of us were saying he'd just be a general defender, which has held true.

Pies gave him a huge salary, and he's going to do fairly well for them. Whether they turn him into the next Sidebottom, who knows.
Konstanty is one we should be looking at, if we aren't already.

Highish draft pick, behind a few at the Swans, and wont cost much given he is OOC.
I'd be avoiding Konstanty and McHenry entirely. What's with all the Konstanty love anyway... are these accounts just all his family members gassing him up?

Could go back to 13 if Richmond get pick 2 for Graham and then west coast walker baker to the psd

I googled Walker Baker. Couldn’t find him. Bloody hell I should visit specsavers.

Nobody should get anything, is my personal view.

Nah, the club attaining the player should lose the equivalent draft pick points that the free agency formula spits out

Ie Saints would not get pick 8 but the Hawks would be docked the equivalent value of pick 8 from their total draft hand

Works 4 fold
1. The rest of the comp is not affected
2. the ridiculous contracts being thrown out for these types of players just because it doesn’t cost the receiving club a draft pick will abate
3. The Free Agent still gets to where they want to go with zero fuss
4. The AFL can publish the guidelines and bring transparency to this debacle

Collingwood aims to trump Carlton in race for Port Adelaide star Dan Houston

Pardon me if it's already been mentioned but Damien Barrett has suggested on AFL.com.au that Brisbane are going to throw the kitchen sink at Harry!
No way I want that happening but the trade would be HUGE!
(Same age as Houston too, just saying!) LOL

Cam Rayner, Jack Payne and Zac Bailey. Throw in a future first round pick too

Damo 🤡

IF ...

Harry McKay has no intention of playing for anyone other than Carlton ...

THEN ...

the question will almost inevitably come from Brisbane anyway, and might have arrived already: would you want to replace Joe? The Lions will be ruthless in dealing with their options in the next two weeks. And yes, I know Harry is contracted until the end of 2030.

Keep seeing Tom Lynch's name mentioned as a quick fix to replace Joe Daniher

Not having compensation for free agents is not equalisation - its just a chance for strong teams to pillage less successful teams.

However there needs to be a much more transparent system for the compensation. Maybe a panel of five experts can sit and decide what pick would be given for the players loss based on ;

1) AND MOST IMPORTANTLY- what the player would be valued at in an actual trade at that time.

2) age, contract value, contract length.

Panel would consist of ex players, coaches, recruiters etc and panel members couldn't sit on a panel that involved any team that they had had a previous involvement with.

Josh Battle -probably worth about an early second round pick but add salary, contract length - gives StKilda an end of first rounder.

Panel publishes recommendation, transparency and common sense prevail.
They need to make players wages public so it is clear how the compensation is calculated.

But my preference is to scrap compensation. All these players are unrestricted free agents, because either they aren’t paid much by there current clubs or they have served 10 years, which either way they should be free to move where ever they want without compensation.

The same way we would. By acquiring Gold Coasts pick 13. That pick is highly sort after by multiple teams so it’s an intriguing situation.
But it just show you how the AFL is such a corrupted organisation, by giving Suns all these concessions for them to consider trading a top 30 pick for John Noble.

Same with the AFL giving the go ahead for suns to trade pick 7 plus Bowes with his contract that can be renegotiated to the cats for a future second.

Missing out on Houston would be a blessing in disguise and for what we have to give up it is not worth it IMO.

We have his position covered and it is not an area of need. We need to recruit small forwards to feed off Harry and Charlie and that is our area of need along with leg speed as we look slow at times but the Campo FS’s will address that.

Yep I agree with you. The way the academies and such are set up, GC just don’t value picks the same was as other clubs. And it’s honestly a big problem. They keep bringing in unbelievable talent without having to use the high picks to take them. They then grab role players for their good pick which makes a mockery of the system. How the AFL ticked off that Bowes deal was beyond me.
