Houston would know that he is more likely to play finals at Carlton over the next 3 years, but below market value salary wise

North will start to climb over that same period, but have more cap space

Just don’t see him leaving a team that made a prelim final to head to a team on the bottom of the ladder at his age. Port are using North as leverage. Houston will be a blue next year.

North haven’t landed a big name for a long time , so they are due . Feels like they will have more to offer. Would be extremely disappointed to miss out on Houston.

If he heads to Norf it’s for the cash only, doesn’t cut the mustard in my book and we move on to the next opportunity

Yeh apparently it’s down to North or us,at this stage they are better placed with picks but more than likely Austin will devise a plan if we really want him.

It would be nice if we could leverage GC and make Houston part of the Lukosius deal

I don’t get the logic of Newman being elite but Houston being an amazing get - same size, same position but Houston is a game changer? How does that math work?

Interesting stat - in the 5 games Newman had the most possessions, we won 1 of them (against port and his 5th highest disposals)

Think it’s flawed logic all the way around, KPD/Small forward/ Quick mid should be the focus.
Not a position we have coverage and young depth/talent

Houston can be a point of difference in the midfield

I don't think we're silly enough to be influenced by a bidding war. I believe we have a price we're willing to pay and it's up to Port to extract that full amount

Oh he’s a mid fielder now, I swear there’s a bloke about his size who was a backman who we brought in to play midfield - Zac something, any idea how that worked out for us?
Houston has played as a midfielder for Port before. And I don't understand the Williams reference - the idea to bring him in and play him as a midfielder was in my opinion a good one. We desperately needed that type on ball. The reason it didn't work was because Williams couldn't stay fit. Houston doesn't have those question marks over his durability/health.

Houston would be our #1 player in average metres gained per game @ 488m.
Our current #1 is Newman at 482m, then drops to Acres at 409m.
So ball movement will improve.

Houston ranks elite for:
Inside 50s @ 3.5
Effective kicks @ 13.6
Kicking efficiency @ 81.5%
Score involvements @ 4.9

So he will by far improve our ball movement and scoring ability. The question is at what cost?
But do I want him for the right price? Yes.

Point is, want a midfielder - get a ****ing midfielder! if your bringing in a AA half back that’s where u play them!

Every small defender is a possible midfielder for Carlton, except a younger defender then u never actually give them a rotation thru there.

I'd say most clubs would happily offer a late 1st for Houston

Run, carry, elite by foot

Richmond are going to be dead set dogshit for 4+ years. Going to take some rebuilding

Why would Noah Balta want to spend his prime there. We should be asking the question very hard.
The question has been asked.
They won't trade him this year, and he is very likely to re-sign next year. If not he will be a free agent.

With the amount of cap space opening up, young talent coming in and better luck with injuries, I think the tigers will be able to retain him and sell him the vision.

Expect them to go very hard for draft picks for this draft, they are not interested in futures. Then very hard for FA's next year.
