I have horrible news for people about the first few days of trade period.

Nothing much ever gets done. Well not formally anyway.

Agree initial few days are all about postering and setting the tone with plenty of nonsense too.
Trade period is far too long 4 or5 days is ample time , then the fireworks would start quickly.

Which one is the good one? Or better one?
I like them both. I've watched a bit of them at Glenelg. They are a little different to each other - Ben being more of a hybrid mid with an inside game and right foot dominate, and Lucas is more of outside running left footer. I think Ben is a bit stronger and probably has more tricks than Lucas, but I think Lucas will be a great specialty winger and can produce some great kicks at times, yet this is a little inconsistent.

There is something about Lucas that reminds me more of their dad (at least what I remember his dad being), especially in Scott's early years with us. Ben is probably more what Scott was like in his later playing years.

My fax machine doesn't get out of bed until there's less than 10,000 seconds left in trade period...

If either go past Scott by the end of their careers we will have been blessed….
Both will make me happy, an inside and outside mid with Campos genes excites me.

Listening to Austin, doesn’t sound like Houston is a real priority and the draft is the focus which I like too
Which is really what we're all wanting I feel. Only thing with the Houston deal is preventing the Pies getting him and flying back into premiership contention.

Hope Port just say we're holding him for another year and we can focus on the draft without worrying about the Pies

Agree. But the reverse psychology tactic could be in play. Rarely do people reveal their true intentions - but in this case I hope it is 100% what we are planning to do. As so many have said, the draft will be heavily compromised soon with Tassie coming in - we need to stockpile younger players NOW, not overcapitalise in late 20s players who specialise in areas of the ground in which we are well covered.

Meanwhile the remainder of the competition improves their list aggressively.
Cats, Hawks, Crows ,Power, just a few that will be much stiffer competition in 2025.
We’re in a jam, 4/5 monster contracts for our champions and a few not so good are strangling our mobility. Let’s hope we snare the Camporeale boys cheaply they’ll be good footballers and either a quality tall for defense or skilled small forward. We need a speedy midfielder too, but can’t address all problems in one trade period.

What did the Lions add last year to get over the hump this season?

Sometimes hitting the draft is the best option for a club. There's no feasible targets out there which fill our positional needs for a good price, but they are available in this draft around our picks.

Getting aggressive would be great and someone like Houston or Bailey Smith would be awesome... but we have 3-4 gaps in our list and selling the farm for mature agers just isn't going to possible without giving up all our draft capital and blowing our cap out the water.
