Am I the only one that feels like we missed on getting something else back from Hawks in that swap, such as a F3 or a 4th rounder this year?
We traded a F1 and F2 for a current 1st rounder (14). Our F1 could be 14 next year and so we have just handed the Hawks a free 2nd rounder in 2025 with nothing coming back. I realise the talent in this draft is supposedly better than next years and so that may have been a factor, but still feels like the exchange was not balanced.

Strange timing on the pick trade with Haw.. Denver Granger-Barras was seen at the cafe inside Ikon earlier today.

Great young prospect - never developed as he should've. What would he cost in terms of picks? Or could the Hawks deal be about us giving up a later pick (rd 3+) rather than delisting him for no return?

It does sound like that Hawthorn and WCE have both fired their nukes in act of Mutually Assured Destruction. It’s very entertaining.
Said this a few days ago. Very happy with the second part...
The report that Houston chose the pies. Leppitsch being a win now list manager with an army of vets who were part of the korean war. Let them play hardball with port, we can pick up advantageous positions around the club's going overboard in this period for once. Instead of being in the thick of the overpaying nonsense.

When one looks at it this way, it doesn't look great on paper, but if the pundits are correct and the draft this year is solid, 14 may be the next Cripps!

Why...?

It's basically 34 plus our future 1st for Pick 14. Nothing overly wrong with that on paper. We're banking on an improvement next year, and even if that just results in reaching the second or third week of finals, FA compo and academy picks next year could have our first rounder sitting in the late teens. A great year with a GF appearance could have our first in the 20s.

Probably dependent on them getting the Barrass deal over the line on whether they will look to move him on

Supposedly unrelated but correct information.

Love how we didn’t overplay our attraction to Houston by getting him to publicly nominate us.

Also love how we openly said we wanted to acquire another first rounder and just did so without much fuss for us or the clubs we dealt with.

Really love how a relatively simple trade (for us) has absolutely rocked WCE and the Pies; loved Leppitsch’s little back pedal regarding Houston. Going to be interesting watching the Barrass, Bolton and Baker trades go through.

I doubt 14 is for Houston. We haven't done well enough out of either of those 2 trades to have enough currency for him. Would need to be 14 + something. We no longer have any options for the +.

F3 must be on the table for campo points. Was hoping we'd get something back to use in the 2 trades we've done.

Hmmmm. Not sure about that

I'd have asked for Hawks 71 or 77 back for bid insurance. But Austin must have a plan and is confident in the current draft hand.
