SOS just keeps on sniffing around. Hopefully Austin just tells him to gagf

SOS always loves eating from his previous employer. He did it poaching GWS players. He’s done it with Blues players and now reportedly hungry for another meal. Watch out Saints when he moves to a new club.

What are the chances we manage to convert pick 3 into a top 10 pick and another first rounder (eg 6-10 and 11-15) - use the higher one for Houston and still and up with a reasonable first round pick?

I'll be honest and say as much as I like the idea of a pick 3, a proven player like Houston and another first rounder appeals to me more.

Finn O'Sullivan recorded a 2.989 second 20m sprint, 8.152 seconds in the agility test and on Friday ran the 2km time trial in 6:28 minutes, placing him in the top dozen prospects across the three events.

Gees, Crippa (as a lumpy kid) ran 3.13 iirc?

If so, that's nothing special.

When the time is ~3 seconds, 0.15 seconds is a lifetime.

Eg

Under 3.0 is quick
Under 2.9 is very quick
Under 2.85 is best in draft

Guys this is SOS we are talking about. Any suggestion of pick 8 is delusion. He probably doesn't even offer 32.

SOS doesn't do win-win trades. He needs to screw the other party. Though if we got offered 8 for Kemp I think Austin drives him to SOS house himself

I'd be surprised if SOS best offer was 32. He's chasing a contracted 23 year old that he rated very highly in his draft year would be delusional to think that we'd take 32.

Just need to remind him that he was adamant that we needed to offer 7 or 8 for an uncontracted SAAD a few years ago.

Hardly anyone worth recruiting on the Saints list... ;)

This just isn't true.
Got any examples to support your claim?

100%. Offering virtually nothing for Macrae this year. Offered nothing for Dow last year whilst dragging out the Coffield trade, despite both players being in similar positions. Fleeced Adelaide on Gibbs (thanks). Walked Jack Martin to the PSD (also thanks).

He's just not the type to target a player, offer fair value and get business done quickly. Hes an old school negotiator like Dodo. He'll low ball, slowly work his way up, drag out the trade, not giving up a dime more then he has too.

Great for extracting maximum value depending on the leverage he has. Less good for building and maintaining relationships.

In my 60years watching footy teams that have won premierships have built their teams from the backline...a weak backline under constant pressure like we've been eventually succumb.

And that constant pressure comes from a leaky midfield who can't retain the ball...

I reckon our backline is capable of holding up in a GF if the rest of the team holds up their end of the defensive bargain. We could improve it, but I see more opportunity to do so next year than this, whereas this year has provided a great opportunity to address the midfield issues.

Actually most are hesistent even on 32 but aknowledge it might be required. 🤣
Even better

Best 22, contracted player for a finalist and they want him for a pick that would just get consumed by a Ben Camporeale pick, and are even hesitant on that

Anything beyond pick 30 is a waste for us, given we’ve the points to match already

Tbh, 32 probably isn't that far off his value if he was uncontracted. But given is contracted, and has just started to show returns on the investment, he's worth more to us than pick 32.

Uncontracted, perhaps somewhere in the 18-22 range would be what I'd expect. Contracted, and just starting to show form, he's more like a low teens. So 8 is probably too much for Kemp still. We'd need to throw in something, and as we don't really have the picks now, it's tough to get the job done unless they overpay.

He has bugger all leverage here and can't drag it out more than a day and a half. Let's see what he's prepared to offer, very easy to say no thanks.

Kemp has a lot of upside which is still untapped.

Would have to be compelling for us to consider trading Kemp, and I just can't see them putting forward anything compelling.

Doubt they offer an F1 or split one of their top picks, but after the events of the past 24 hours, ya never know!

Personally I rate Kemp and want to see him playing as 3rd tall beside (out of the way of) H & C - can fly & mark, brings great pressure at ground level. If they separate well, how the he’ll does Oppo cover those 3…?

And that’s with small/med support from Williams, Fog, Elijah, Moir, Corey/Jesse

Would require an exceptional (unrefusable) offer to change that

I’ll fix the tweet up and remove all the fluff

“What is Nick Austin doing? He had Silvagni family friend Dan Houston in his sights and instead traded away picks for Pick 3. Oh yeah…… and my old man is the best list manager in the competition. Screw Nick Austin, he isn’t fit enough to sit in Stephen Silvagni’s old seat.”

They're still trading Membrey. Maybe to upgrade their pick 32?

I can't see it happening either way. We're too light for key backs already.
