Issue isn't so much trading Kemp if it is fair value (though doubt it would be). Concern is more that he plays a position we are already light in and coming so late in the trade period we couldn't really address it if we moved him on.

I’ll fix the tweet up and remove all the fluff

“What is Nick Austin doing? He had Silvagni family friend Dan Houston in his sights and instead traded away picks for Pick 3. Oh yeah…… and my old man is the best list manager in the competition. Screw Nick Austin, he isn’t fit enough to sit in Stephen Silvagni’s old seat.”

100% correct.

Bitter bitter brood.

100%. Offering virtually nothing for Macrae this year. Offered nothing for Dow last year whilst dragging out the Coffield trade, despite both players being in similar positions. Fleeced Adelaide on Gibbs (thanks). Walked Jack Martin to the PSD (also thanks).

He's just not the type to target a player, offer fair value and get business done quickly. Hes an old school negotiator like Dodo. He'll low ball, slowly work his way up, drag out the trade, not giving up a dime more then he has too.

Great for extracting maximum value depending on the leverage he has. Less good for building and maintaining relationships.

Again, this just isn't true.

Gibbs was one of our best players, was 2 years into a heavily front-ended 5 year contract, Crows tried to poach him and acted in bad faith. SOS didn't screw them, he just held firm.

Offered a 2nd & a 3rd round pick for Martin, very fair value.
But Suns were drunk on picks and concessions from the AFL who created a moral hazard. It didn't matter to them, and their president overruled the recruiters to grandstand in the media.

With the Dow trade, the Saints were constrained by Dogs and Saints already having traded future picks, so ended up paying slightly more to ensure all parties got what they wanted.

He might be bargaining hard for Macrae, a 30 year old who played some 2s this year. I don't know, let's see what plays out?
But you have completely misrepresented SOS' usual way of doing business.

I remember BSOS posting something a fair while back now, might have been after SPS, Dow or maybe even Cunners having a good game? He posted a pic of SOS eating can apple pie with the caption like "A player playing well after playing in their actual position? Better eat that humble pie"

So clearly reckons SOS was a GOAT list manager and it was everyone else wrong.

if kemp was playing for stkilda, with the same history and contract.
I reckon people on this board would be saying a 3rd or 4th rounder.

I think true value is somewhere in the realm of 20-30. Seems reasonable. id do it for anything under 25.
we lack key talls but not necessarily short on 3rd tall defenders/forwards

What true value he holds doesn't really matter when they are contracted and haven't requested a trade. Saints only have two top-10 picks and then a bunch of picks that would just be absorbed by a Camporeale bid match.

Surely, we get into Bailey Smith's ear....

Give up #3 - get Smith and a top 10 pick (if Dogs can wrangle it)?

Read between the lines people!

All this pick 3 talk has got Austin righting the past wrongs & SOS is just trying to help!

Out - Kemp
In - Pick 7 & Paddy Dow

Bless your heart SOS & more quality work by Austin! 😂
