More the fact that what we have to give up draft wise. Parker will come for free as an UFA and we don’t have to trade away our draft haul.

Great in theory, but Cerra is the one who has requested a trade to VIC and been linked closely with us, while Parker is trying to negotiate a better deal with Sydney and dangling the FA card as a tactic.

Any resemblance here to the end of 1994?

Pretty sure I've heard Parko say that he was actually going to be fired because the club offered his position to both Gary Lyon and Brereton. They both refused so Parko was third choice.

If that's how that actually went down it's interesting that one of the leading players this year is also named Lyon.
Lyon and Brereton were still playing in 94, so i very much doubt it.

If we seriously had Parko behind thise muppets, no wonder we are where we are

And what happens when any interest parties walk away and say "forget it"?
What's option number 2 for Freo? Keep an uncontracted player who they have no authority to retain? That can't happen.
The market will dictate the value. Not the seller.

Except for when you're Carlton and trading for Saad..

This is to high…

Parker on a 3yr deal and staying in the first rd of the draft makes more sense.

Its ridiculous and what would you expect as a starting point... but then again ask yourself what Dodoro would be asking for in the same scenario?... "We want 2 first round picks THIS YEAR, your first in 2023 and 2024 and Sam Walsh and Weitering FOR STARTERS. A joke but there you go.

As mentioned before talking to Pyke.

Good. Simply because that means Teague is goneski lol and we aren't resorting to rushing out and signing Lyon (who IMO is the best choice).

We won't be giving up a draft haul for him. It will be 6 and change. If we draft someone with 6, we'll be hoping that they turn out as good as Cerra in a few years. Cerra is that now and still has 10 years in him.
Don't get me wrong, Parker is a good player, but I don't see how he adds more than Cerra.

I love the ITK info we get and I’m sure they are good people but a lot of them were wrong today and I want a reason. Not “things change” crap I’m done with that

Other than 'things change' what would you like to hear?

We made shit up?
The guy who has coffee where I work was wrong?

Astounding.

The longer the club delay making a public statement, the more I think Teague is staying on. A lot of the headlines about Teague being sacked are opinion pieces from the media, who (like us) have been so starved of leaks about the contents of the review. If the review findings indicated Teague should be moved on, there is no reason that the club wouldn't have acted by now, especially with all the external noise. If the rumours about Clarkson or Lyon being approached are true, who's even to say it's for the Head Coaching position; the review might have shown Teague needs the best people around him to succeed, who better than Clarkson or Lyon?

I agree but the people who did post probably had good Intel so we need to cut them some slack. Hope the next one they bring comes off.

Spot on.. in the 'wheeling dealing' world that is AFL, decisions are always one coffee, brown paper bag, rumour, change of heart, private learjet away from changing.

Like I say... it ain't done till it's done.

Good post with a lot of valid points, but I'm still disliking this as Teague coaching on is nightmarish.

I would still rather Parker and keeping our #6 IMO.

Too busy on plan B

Bloody oath.. imagine this..

Hey Pres.. 'Clarko has just pulled the pin on next season'.. we need to meet at 3pm

Sayers - 'Damn, that sucks.. ok, but can we make it 4pm, we really need to let the folks on BigFooty know'..

I'm unsure whether I like it or not, but it would be something I could come to terms with, especially if it's not Lyon or Clarkson. As long as everyone remaining at the club is on the same page, I think some quality people may have a bigger impact than we expect

Pick 6 and Luke Parker: elite on-baller or Adam Cerra: mid with potential.

Not saying I'd go after Parker but I know which one I'm taking. By the time Parker is 32 our pick 6 is 4 years in.
And pick 6 ends up being a Yarran or SPS.
Meanwhile Parker's body starts breaking down over those 3 years, etc, etc. It's all guess work.
Regardless of the difference in quality between Parker and Cerra, I'm going with the 10 year player. It's not like he's rubbish.
Statistically, pick 6 is one of the worst picks to have. More busts than booms.

Parko came back in '92 after 3 years out of the 8, and we made a GF in '93 and finals again in '94. Surely we weren't going to sack a 3 time (at the time) premiership coach with a win record like he had.

The hysteria today is laughable! Let's just be patient, there's plenty of time to get this right. If that means going through a 'proper' process then we should be happy. Get the right assistants around the head coach and then we're set.

As I posted yesterday, IMO the two roles of Head of Football and Football Director are the most pivotal for our future success. Let's aim to get these right...

If Clarkson doesn't want in....then I don't want Clarkson. Simple.
