Watching from afar, I really liked Bucks but the Lumumba culture stuff has spooked me a bit. I don't know the man at all personally so maybe it was a club thing over him specifically. In the past yes shown that he is a great relationship ships guy and a handy coach.

Still rather Ross.

Probably an unpopular view but IMHO there was a healthy dose of self interest in Lumumba & Goodes claims and attention seeking and the extent of their claims has been vehemently disputed by others.

Whereas Eddie has been brilliant in highlighting the issues, the emotional & personal cost and dragging people along with him at the same time - absolute super star.

i.e. I take Lumumba’s claims against Buckley with a grain of salt - rightly or wrongly.

OK not article, interview on 3AW. I read the @upthebaggers transcription on twitter but only just listened to the audio now - the bit in question starts at about 1.40 on this clip

Edit: oops
What a ridiculously opinionated pack of ****s the media are.
They refuse to report this stuff because they would rather report a murder than a run in.
**** them. Maclure himself says the club tried to get Teague, Liddle and Lloyd months ago and yet he still claims Teague is hard done by.
I have lost all respect for that clown and our ridiculous CEO and FM.

Thanks again for the link.

Doubt it. Played 13 games this year (including the last 10) so he knows there is an opportunity here for him.

Has also now spent 4 years at the club, so will have spent plenty of time and built relationships with those who we're clearly building around.

He won't just move for another contract that is similar to what we've offered. Sure, he'll probably look to move if there's an offer from elsewhere that blows ours out of the water, but the likelihood of that is slim to nil, and really that's no different to any other player anyway.

If someone offers him a squad place he'll probably jump at it. Doubt we would.

Why, when Buckley himself admitted he let down Lumumba and turned a blind eye to the bullying he experienced at the Pies.

And let's not forget the mess of last year's trade period, where he disgustingly threw Adam Treloar and his pregnant partner under the bus, and clearly lied about the Collingwood players not wanting wanting play with Treloar anymore.

Reckon that debacle was the one that ultimately let to Buckley stepping down as Pies coach, and it's why I firmly believe he needs a couple of years penance doing media work before becoming a coach again.

Umm No.

The stance of "everyone seemed okay with it" doesn't cut it. Buckley, as a leader had the opportunity to cut that off at the knees, but he took the easy, soft option

This has nothing to do with how I view him as a coach

Yeah pretty unpopular view, considering that Collingwood gaslit the shit out of Lumumba effectively calling him a liar then it was proven that the club had deep systematically racist roots. Even more unpopular with the fact that you chose to leave Trelor out of the "take a with a grain of salt", who like Lumumba eluded to being gaslit by Buckley, and replaced him with Goodes, who had nothing to do with Buckley.

Let's say Lyon becomes the coach, I think it is difficult to categorically put a line through some players, as many would have new roles within the team
This, agree, and i think he will find a new role for Cripps. Unless Injuries have severely hampered him in the last 2 years our midfield as shallow as it has been in some instances, has performed better in his absence. Game may have passed him by as a midfielder.

Marchbank will never be a replacement for Jones

I didnt mean that specifically. Sorry. The Marchbank bit was just musing about what could have been.

I see Gov as the intercepting third tall, and I think we need to replace Jones in the 22, not get him a back up in the ressies. Weitering, ?????? and Gov as the tall defenders.

You've listed "depth" KPDs that include McDonald, who is a likely deslisting, Williamson, who is not even close to a KPD, and Kemp, who is also unlikely to end up as a KPD.

Maybe it's you being disingenuous?

Nothing wrong with McGovern playing as an interceptor down back, his kicking skills for one set him apart and he would be a weapon distributing the ball up field.

Agreed.
