Over a certain pay grade, from memory it is $150k and above you really don’t need a specific reason to terminate an employee. No matter what though there are still risks of being taken for unfair dismissal but it is a matter of how high the risk and what the likelihood is. I would imagine both are on salary packages that would exceed that figure so I doubt this would factor in.
Yeah, you're right on that threshold - I work on projects that contract on a set weekly basis and it was indexed up to circa $3,050 p/w in July, but I wasn't sure if the same applied to FTE contracts vs short term contracts like those specific to my industry.

Regardless, there's still the element of allowing them to save face as they aren't the sacrificial figurehead that Teague needed to be.

On the player approach to the Prez, maybe they just felt like;

a) change can be bad - might see some players leave
b) that we were close, just needed to fix a few things
c) that we were improving
d) that we were unluccy with key player injuries
e) that we would be better off with some midfield changes
f) any and all of the above

Change is unsettling and teague seems a good bloke. I get it. But outside the tent the gaps are pretty clear - this is what leaders need to address.

We'll all move on.

Just spent an hour interacting with Carlton Now group - asked 4 times for ticket transparency - at the end of the day we are paying for this little venture - specifically sought confirmation whether Tom Elliott on ticket…….. silence was deafening????

So hope Tom is smarter than to associate himself with these nuffies

I know multiple, knowledgeable north Melbourne supporters (i know, hard to believe) and all dont rate scott. Tactically inept and quick to blame the players.

I have challenged them with facts and his record, and they all insist stats dont tell the story.

Naturally i am inclined to believe them, in the same way Teagues numbers dont tell the fully story. So i am hoping its a no for scott.

Lyon, whilst an incredible coach, can play a pretty dull style of football.

Buckley i find hard to grasp as a carlton person
Do we really care if we're playing dull football if we're winning?

Lyon has taken two, let's face it, bog average teams to GFs.

I watch footy for the total battle, not the offensive battle. Initiating the turnover due to game plan, defensive structure and playing with cohesion is way more satisfying than kicking a goal as we just all ran forward and happen to win that particular clearance that preceded that.

We need the whole team playing as one all over the crowd.

Given me a 61-60 win any day over a loss where we score over 100.

Don't judge by gamestyle. Judge simply by wins.

It still doesn't add up. At that level normally if your boss doesn't rate you and thinks it is time, regardless of your tenure length they are ripping the band aid off and moving forward. To keep them there while they are looking for another gig is unlikely given it could actually takes months for that to happen. My gut feel is if those guys were going to be shanked they would be gone.

We need McGovern to do the T.McDonald turnaround challenge.

Gov in 2021 vs McDonald in 2020

McDonald in 2021 vs McDonald in 2020
Didnt he do the ‘anti-Levi’? Went to a almost entirely meat/carnivore diet? Or something like that

Ross Lyon could turn Martin around like he did with Walters. He could also help mcgovern find his rightful place. We could have upside in a few players on the outer right now, SPS, Setterfield and Fisher.

martin - at anywhere near his best - is elite.

A true match winner.

Hope he can find it.

Can we put our order in for the 2022 version of Allir Allir? Traded for stuff all, with not much interest from other clubs and a lack of interest here, then ended up being AA CHB.

What a bargain.

Yep - good shopping by Port.

Pains me to say it but Dodo picked up a couple of bargains with Wright & Hind.

If you do your homework there’s bargains out there - Blues need to get better at this.

Looks overs to me
Uncontracted and wanting to return home to Vic
Freo are going to play fair here or he potentially walks for nothing

Depends what it means by "swap of second and third rounders". Swapping our second for their third would be overs. Swapping our second and third for their second and third is the most token of steak knives. Especially if one of those is just gonna be traded for Riccardi anyway.

Report on AFL.com.au from Riley Beveridge this morning, a few things to note since Riley is pretty well connected at the Blues:

1) SPS & LOB almost certain to not receive contract extensions. I’m assuming they will be traded. Dow also mentioned as a potential trade if a suitor is found which defies logic to me. We’d want at least a top 10 pick for Dow IMO but I’d prefer to hold onto him. He showed this year he could become a very special player. Brodie Kemp is also closing in on a new contract.

2) Sounds like we are now targeting more aerobic midfielders hence the links to Cerra, Hewett & Lipinski.

3) Riley Beveridge seems to have lost faith in the club, he’s started sinking in the boots like the rest of the media recently which is quite sad since he’s basically our only representative on AFL.com. Dangerous to bite the hand that leaks to you…
