AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Riley is maybe the only person I listen to in the media when it comes to Carlton. Glad he’s sticking the boots in, we have been an utter disgrace for 20 years and he is genuinely invested in us because he’s a supporter.Report on AFL.com.au from Riley Beveridge this morning, a few things to note since Riley is pretty well connected at the Blues:
1) SPS & LOB almost certain to not receive contract extensions. I’m assuming they will be traded. Dow also mentioned as a potential trade if a suitor is found which defies logic to me. We’d want at least a top 10 pick for Dow IMO but I’d prefer to hold onto him. He showed this year he could become a very special player. Brodie Kemp is also closing in on a new contract.
2) Sounds like we are now targeting more aerobic midfielders hence the links to Cerra, Hewett & Lipinski.
3) Riley Beveridge seems to have lost faith in the club, he’s started sinking in the boots like the rest of the media recently which is quite sad since he’s basically our only representative on AFL.com. Dangerous to bite the hand that leaks to you…
The race is a sham IMVHO. But I don’t mind it. If you know what you want. Geddit.HUN reporting Buckley has pulled out of our coaching race.
It’s inevitable just give Ross the job today. There’s no one else interested
Who?? Don Pyke?Yes there is.
They don’t have a third. So it’s more like their second for our third.
Isn’t that what was said about Dow at the end of last year? The issue with Dow is he has a lot of deficiencies in areas that are important for his best position as an inside mid:
- Poor Tank
- Poor Defensively
- Average Disposal
- Physically Small
- Struggles to Accumulate
- No secondary position
I would still prefer to keep him given his limited trade value, but he needs a massive pre-season to be in the round one team.
Yes I’m far more Gorgeous George Harris than MLG when it comes to laying down expectations and restoring our once ruthless culture - if that sounds too hard for some of them well this way to the exit
I’d argue that giving Freo pick 6 (or 8) is overs for Cerra as we could just use it in the ND and pick up Cerra. Someone might even offer up a downgrade on draft night which would still allow us to grab Cerra.
He would have to have been in the race to be out of it.
Now that his name is associated with us a tad now - maybe a footy coaching development role?

I tend to agree but for me, the time to sink the boots in if Riley felt that way was during the season. I feel like we are finally seeing the winds of change, trying to identify and rectify our issues.Riley is maybe the only person I listen to in the media when it comes to Carlton. Glad he’s sticking the boots in, we have been an utter disgrace for 20 years and he is genuinely invested in us because he’s a supporter.
I reckon Riley has been leaked rubbish.
Did you check your walls this morning for any damage ferris...just to be sure.
Yep - good shopping by Port.
Pains me to say it but Dodo picked up a couple of bargains with Wright & Hind.
If you do your homework there’s bargains out there - Blues need to get better at this.
Port has been phenomenal in recruitment in the last 3-4 years. Completely replenished their list with young players who have walked straight into the 22 and had meaningful impactSpot on. I'm well and truly over he shopping around for established players at other clubs and doing very little to try and develop our own talent. Has been a major failing of the club for a number of years now.
What player has risked going into the ND instead of a trade since Luke Ball?
'Drafting' Cerra in the ND has as much chance of happening as Carlton drafting me as a ruck...
We saw D.P's culture at Adelaide.Would love Don Pyke to be involved, really want Sydney’s culture and brand of footy at our footy club
