What’s a realistical timeline for hiring the new head coach...within a month?

Don’t fool yourself, decision has been made on the hiring part. When it will be announced is the question I think you are asking.

It’s the optics i.e. has to look like we followed a process. There are some good candidates out there, but they won’t be entertained.

I still hold out hope McGovern can be a gun. Natural talent seems to be off the charts but does he have the willpower or resilient body to get fit and stay fit?

If we need collateral to give Freo for Cerra, would rather look at others to trade.

He doesnt even need to be a 'gun' but could be a very handy player in a really good side. Get 15 touches a game and couple of shots on goal - he does make things happen when he gets the ball.

Two major issues - will we ever be a really good side and will he ever be fit and injury free

I don't believe this one bit. Whilst Lyon might be the front runner and/or preferred candidate, it is definitely not decided.

Why not ? Very narrow minded! Just tells me that there is no confidence in our process to select the right coach, like an “elite” well run sporting organization.

That is assuming this amateur organization has a process to start with.
You can frame it any way you want to slag off the club but in my humble opinion, based on the last 2 coach sackings, they will not choose a first-time coach. Let's wait & see who they pick.

Happy to have differing opinions mate...
But, think you may be getting stuck up on the money... It was a SOS legacy what his getting paid and it is what it is...

IMO... McGovern has better key attributes to be an elite defender, Jeremy Howe type... Then he has displayed as a forward, specially at Carlton...

Be interesting to see how the new coach sees it... :thumbsupv1:
Of course I'm getting stuck up on the money; it's the entirety of my issue, and trying to solve the issue is what I've been attempting!

If I'm looking at the player - just the player - I can definitely see what you're talking about; delist Parkes, and develop McGovern in that role until he's capable of AFL performance. But we cannot consider solely the player; we need to consider them in the light of other players, and in the context of having a limited amount of money to spend per season on 45 footballers.

Anyway, I've definitely said enough about this in here, and we can certainly agree to disagree.

Completely agree with you. It'll be out of former senior coaches, which there are plenty available on the market this year.

Whoever gets the job, I hope they have some homework prepared for the players, like stated expectations on their condition when they start the pre-season, or some sort of general overview of game plan and fundamental structures.
They (both coach and playing list) have a big pre-season ahead, and hopefully they will be proactive about it.

Happy for Liddle to stay on, provided he no longers get involved in football department or recruiting decisions.

Would like to think that the club understands and appreciates his business acumen. Sometimes ya gotta take the rough with the smooth
Absolutely , he obviously has commercial strengths, needs to stay in his lane though.

Ian prendergast's old position would suit.

Need a footy orientated CEO.

So with time already served knowing that RTB is the man, we'll know Monday

You honestly think with the time they've taken to conduct, and then finalise, the Review, that they'll undo everything and ditch a coaching interview process? Spare me. Sayers isn't dumb.

There are a few people I'm very interested to see under a different coaching regime.
Setterfield and Stocker top of my list. Stocker more natural progression and another preseason more than coach related but attempting to unlock Setterfield's talents will be good to watch. Kennedy as well for that matter. Had some massive games towards the end of the season.

If we take his comments on FC on face value, Dow, SPS, newnes are gone. LOB stays

The difference between a commentator and a coach.
As a commentator, you can write off players because it costs you nothing.
As a coach, you can't afford to give away high draftees without at least trying to turn them around first.

The slightest interest from another club and Kennedy will be gone. Free agent being paid minimum chips right now.
