That reminds me a bit of Bolton.

I remember in the first episode of "The Journey" when he was taking the 2015 draftees to Tassie. He was talking about how they would shake hands and thank everyone they met.

Everyone piled on the bus at one point and he made them all get off and get back on and introduce themselves to the driver properly.

Really loved how he was trying to ground the playing group and teach them to respect everyone they met.
yes i recall that and at the time i thought this bolton dude is very good at educating/uniting the young kids. I hadnt seen/heard of anything like that in afl before. its definitely an important aspect of building a wise and strongly united culture.

I don't get online much, I loathe the pies. Have been a Carlton member since birth. Don't make accusations you don't know are true. I hope you're not like Brett Temp

I understand, and apologies for the Collingwood quip. It’s a double standard for you to tell me not to make accusations and then make one of your own!

I liked that to but I think as time went on, bits I saw form the club, Bolton was very good at that stuff ("Whole of Club") but maybe lacked in actual coaching.

I must be honest - he just didn't seem that smart (harsh I know).

problem was they then played like that - be nice and let their opponent first to the ball, dont tackle them in case they got accidently hurt them 🤣

Newnes, Parks and Boyd delisted
Couple more to follow

Interesting if accurate.

Not surprised about Boyd, last in and was always a slim chance given he was a mid season draftee who then got injured.

Parks feels a tad harsh, but could easily see him getting re-rookied or training with the group through preseason with a view to picking him up in the SSP when an inevitable injury hits.

Newnes is a genuine surprise. Far from our best, by no means a "required" player, but he's a consistent contributor who featured plenty at senior level and would be solid depth at worst. Would have to be a chance for the rookie list. Unless he's been told he won't be best 22 and his preference is to look elsewhere?

Probably framed in a harsh way, but my main issue with Bolton was he came across as very dial-a-quote. Dealt heavily in cliches and never portayed his message in a frank way. Came across as very corporate and I don't think that's what you want from a footy coach.

I always found the Boyd pick strange. A small forward that didn't kick many goals or playing off half back, an area we're stacked in. He was always pushing uphill to ever get a sniff. The injury obviously killed any chance, but he didn't really have one to begin with.
