To be fair the club has done just as sh*t a job as the Lakers did in building and drafting the team...
Mate - the current Laker's list is the Geelong of the NBA not us LOL

Lurks in the shadows for 15 years. Emerges to peddle a term in vogue with the sky after dark crowd. What's "woke brigade" mean? Love your help understanding that term.
What aren't you buying?see there you go again - gross generalisations dressed up in cheap rouge virtue signals. Sell your snake oil somewhere else.
Clarkson will sign IF Cook comes across.
I agree. There are plenty of other reasons for ruling out Ross Lyon.Is it societal progress that mistakes like ones Ross made are now irredeemable? Seems like it's not societal progress it's more like the dissolution of society.
People make mistakes and then grow from them. If mistakes are all considered fatal then you end up segregating everyone.
For the record I'm not against Carlton respects. I don't think it's a valid reason to rule out Ross Lyon though.
The President literally told us they are looking for an experienced coach. That is why.
Carlton Respects is the greatest initiative this club has done in my lifetime.
That being said, people need to stop thinking this is the only reason Lyon didn’t want to go through a process. There were serious red flags of a toxic club culture, falling out and alienation with the younger playing group and preferential treatment of certain players in the lead up to his dismissals.
Enough question marks for a request to enter an interviewing process.
The fact he immediately pulled out says an awful lot.
Can I ask how you would feel if it was your daughter, sister, mother, friend?
Be good to know his reasons why?
- because he wants the big name?
- because it’s the easier option?
- because of the perceived backlash he may get for choosing another first timer
Forget about whether it is right for our club or not. It’s about doing due diligence on the best option.
You hope they are doing that due diligence

Doubt much will happen until the Cats bounce out of the finals.
I'm in software and a bit the same when companies or govt departments want to go through a full-blown Request for Proposal (RFP) process - can eat up weeks and months sometimes only to miss out on the deal.
We often say go through your RFP process and if you don't find a suitable vendor come and talk to us !
I am so proud of the club for getting behind this initiative.

You would hope so indeed. Especially considering there was another big rival club also recruiting a coach at the same time as us.Be good to know his reasons why?

But there are two things you can’t criticise Carlton for.
One is moving on from Teague, that was absolutely the right call.
And two, you cannot attack the club for running a proper process to find the next coach.
According to one of our players:
Lyon became disenchanted when he was told by Greg Williams on Tuesday that he needed to be involved in the process.
Hence Lyon calling Sayers the same day to clarify “the process” as he was under the impression that he had been head hunted by the President (who wanted to give him the job) and therefore didn’t need any form of process.
Im not sure if “the process” means he was up against other applicants or if it just meant he needed to present. But either way, Williams and Sayers aren’t on the same page (already!).
Luke Sayers
I think this is an excellent point. Donald Trump's behaviour both alleged and admitted, was far more reprehensible than Ross Lyon's, and yet society did not deem that it precluded him from the most powerful and responsible job in the USA (more's the pity but let's not go there). The problem we have is that society has not settled on where to draw the line on a case by case basis. That will probably take another couple of generations, and dammit I want a flag before then, possibly two.Is it societal progress that mistakes like ones Ross made are now irredeemable? Seems like it's not societal progress it's more like the dissolution of society.

Maybe because he wants Carlton to be less sh*t at the footballs.
Society and people change small amounts over long periods of timeHaha, the cross-coder. Societal progress = virtue signalling and hyperbole. You can get all sorts of illumination for even the darkest caves now.
