Bomber Thompson - back to the bombers?

I hate Essendon.

If the mail I am hearing is true, they have parcelled up Bomber Thompson and Chris Judd in the package deal to end all package deals.

It is all making sense now...the big farewell to Sheedy and ****....and the BIG hello to Bomber and Juddy...out with the old and in with the new.

The Bumber ****ters will build a dynasty around these two guys.

Every time it seems that these Windy Hill bastards are down for a nine count, they find a way to get off the mat.

Bastards.

And people say Essendon supporters are delusional...

Not really, cats fans have just as much clue and loyalty to a coach as their board!!! Sweet FA:D

Yup, having a coach around for 8 years and in those years having limited success is crappy loyalty alright. After a horrible season last year, how dare the Board go through the club to try and improve matters. They should have just let things to continue on their merry way so the Cats could have had another crappy dissapointing year.

All this Bomber fiasco reminds me of the constant rumours surrounding Pavlich leaving.

I hope this is some sort of perverse BigFooty rumour going on here. If we close the deal and win the big one I know some Cats fans say they wont care if Bomber walks but FFS - if that happens our first premiership coach in friggin two generations has just defected to the dark side..

Essendon FC will unofficially appoint Mark Thompson as coach for seasons 2008-2011 for 3.5 Million Dollars over 4 years after a secret board meeting tonight.

Magnificent achievement by the Dons to secure a quality coach and vindicates the decision to not re-appoint Kevin Sheedy even though he has been a masterful coach in the past.
This one of the best coups in AFL/VFL history. Probably rivals Carlton getting Barassi.

I'm secretly hoping he leaves and Sheedy comes down to Skilled. All we need is a gameday coach now, we don't need a rebuild just yet, so Sheeds for 3 years and I'm happy!

Further to the information I revealed yesterday I can disclose the deal was done last night but cannot be announced until after the absurd Save Essendon group EGM on October 2.

No decision can be aired by the board whilst an EGM has been lodged due to the constitution, which leaves the board ridiculously in limbo because of the Save Essendon group. This action by the Save Essendon group may harm our chances of enticing Chris Judd without having a coach officially, but luckily Peter Jackson is involved so that makes me feel more comfortable.

Sometimes people should just leave the Essendon board to do want its done best for years – make the hard but right decisions. Peter Jackson and Ray Horsburgh have got it right once again by luring Bomber Thompson to Windy Hill.

You are soooo full of it. So whoever it trusting you with this information (presumably someone either on the board or very close to it) is cool that you're just casually posting it on Big Footy?

Just trying to make a name for yourself me thinks.

only time will tell... i have to admit he is starting to get me conned it to actually beleiving we will get him... people saying bomber would not leave geelong for essendon obviously dont think things through.. essendon is arguably the most successful club in history and has a history of luring people in who others think are ungettable

Now you're dealing in conjecture and 'what if' scenarios (by mentioning the history of luring people etc).

What about the fact it's been reported (on Footy Classified last night) that Bomber has said directly to his players that he isn't going to be a career coach and wont leave Geelong to coach another side - he's going to get into other business ventures once he's finished his coaching. How does this sit with you and is Bomber just plain out lying to his playing group?

No one wants to coach poor Essendon :)

Too busy trying to steal others and claim them as their own, in the meantime the misfits at Essendon have missed out on other great coaches!

Joke of a club.

Who have we missed out on?

Ratten, who we never had a chance to go after.
And Harvey and Bailey who have been in our system and weren't deemed to be what we wanted.

We now have the full field to choose from, we haven't missed out on anyone we wanted.

Interesting to read about 'secret board meetings'. My undestanding was simply that after the review, Essendon got in contact with BT and advised him they were unlikely to renew Sheedy's contract and asked whether he would be interested.

Given his bitterness at the time he had talks with the bombers and they agreed 'in principle' that if Sheedy was not renewed he would be their preference and vice versa. No contracts were signed etc but a verbal undertaking was made.

I have heard nothing re 'board room' meetings. Based on my info Essendon are waiting for BT season to end so they can formalise the deal. If BT renegs Daniher will come in as Choco has said no. Essendon are getting toey as they are struggling to be seriously considered for trade deals due the lack of a coach. The Judd situation has hightened this tension.
