Bomber Thompson - back to the bombers?

Bomber was very upset with the footy review last year (on the record as calling it 'stupid') and early in the season reached an in principle agreement with the Dons to coach them in 2008.

Of course he's leaving. Essendon have made him an offer he can't refuse.

Bomber will hoist the cup, have a beer with his players, then give the finger to those committee members who publicly questioned his value in 2006.

I think the Dons offered him over $1 million a year for 5 years.
That Cats can't match that.

This seems most likely.

Oh - Yes, I hope Sando takes over.

He lives in Geelong. I doubt he'll leave Geelong.

Go CATS!!
He hates living in Geelong. Wants to move back to Melbourne.

If we get Bomber I'd love to get Dimma Hardwick as an assistant, if he'd want to do it of course.

Shouldn't it be a little worrying to Essendon fans that many Cats supporters don't seem to be too concerned about Bomber leaving?
They think their improvement this year has f-k all to do with Bomber.

Very strong rumour around that Bomber Thompson has already agreed in principle to return 'home' to the Dons this year.

Story is that Bomber was very upset with the footy review last year (on the record as calling it 'stupid') and early in the season reached an in principle agreement with the Dons to coach them in 2008. All parties are desperately trying to keep a lid on it given Geelongs likely grand final berth but Essendon is under extreme pressure from its supporters over its apparent lack of a coach at a time when Judd is on the market and they are desperate to replace ageing stars.

terry wallace had a similar deal with the swans and look what happened with how paul roos got the team going in his 10 weeks as caretaker....

Why would Essendon part with Kevin Sheedy so early then, if they new they had bomder signed up. Sounds like rubbish.

Maybe they are just trying to get him now.

because it would have looked bad if we had made the finals and then a week or two later we dump sheedy for thompson

Re: Bomber Thompson - back to the bombers

That'll be bigger than the Judd trade if it was to happen....

But then again, if the Cats lose to Collingwood this week, it might just happen.

collingwood couldn't even beat an eagles team without 3-4 of its best players, until they were run off their feet!

if bomber can't coach this geelong team to beat collingwood, then we don't want him.

Bomber will go back to the club he loves and away from the fickle fans at Geelong. Just think, 12 months ago he was copping abuse from everyone. Yes the fans now cheer him, but I think that pretty much scarred him.

I hate Essendon.

If the mail I am hearing is true, they have parcelled up Bomber Thompson and Chris Judd in the package deal to end all package deals.

It is all making sense now...the big farewell to Sheedy and ****....and the BIG hello to Bomber and Juddy...out with the old and in with the new.

The Bumber ****ters will build a dynasty around these two guys.

Every time it seems that these Windy Hill bastards are down for a nine count, they find a way to get off the mat.

Bastards.

lol, we were only down for the count after 2006. This year we climbed off the mat and were a genuine middle of the road team, capable of making a run next year (you'd think we were a 4-win team this year the way people carry on)

With or without Thompson or Judd we will begin to make a run in 2008. 2007 was actually a very good year for Essendon, considering where we found ourselves in 2008.

And remember the trend since 1994. There is always at least one team, usually more, that missed the finals that makes a geuinine run the next year.

We won't get either so why get so angry?
