Bomber Thompson - back to the bombers?

Wow thanks for that info.

So.... Essendon people - you'd be happy to have him yeah?

What will happen for Geelong? Man I can't believe this could happen even with them going so well all year. Just goes to show how it is almost like no-one is safe and secure.

Essendon FC will unofficially appoint Mark Thompson as coach for seasons 2008-2011 for 3.5 Million Dollars over 4 years after a secret board meeting tonight.

Magnificent achievement by the Dons to secure a quality coach and vindicates the decision to not re-appoint Kevin Sheedy even though he has been a masterful coach in the past.
This one of the best coups in AFL/VFL history. Probably rivals Carlton getting Barassi.

You lie! Sauce please?

With that listand the few injuries they have had...Donald Duck could of got them top...

So next year with that list and a good coach, Cats should finish top again.

After this season has finished I'm really not bothered whether he stays or goes. Yeah he has done well this year, but even alot of cats supporters think that Williams and Laidely have done better this year. We've still got Brian Cook and he was responsible for the review that has been the diffrence between last year and this. If Bomber goes, we will appoint a coach who will slot right into the support team we already have. We're not looking for someone who wants to rewrite the rules.

Then there should be a new thread:

Who will be the Cat's new coach?

Re: Bomber Thompson - back to the bombers

i think he will be seriously contemplating the move.

he was sick of them after last years carry on..
Whatever that means!!!! As with everyone associated with Geelong F.C. in a woeful 2006 he was subjected to an impartial, outside review which he called "crappy" because his own behaviour was called into question - petulance on his part.

Yeah but he took it personally and according to the thread made a deal with Essendon who had a year to run on Sheedy's contract (same as Bombers).

I hope it is true and the media get all over it, would be really destabalising going into the prelim.

I'm more worried about Cooky leaving if Bomba leaves.

As long as we keep Cooky, BT can go wherever he likes.

Having said that, if he gets us over the line this year i'd be more than happy to see him stay.

IMO he will leave....lets hope i'm wrong.

Settle down Cats fans, remember how Eagles fans acting when it was suggested Judd would leave.....?

Keep your eyes on the prize lads, everything else will look after itself.

To be honest, I think you could throw a solid coach in there and still have success, Geelong is so talented and have the determination to be winners it doesn't matter who is leading them. I think Bomber is a good coach, but even he said his coaching hasn't changed, and that the players took it upon themselves to improve their fitness and mentality toward football.

I just got an sms from a friend in Geelong who has heard the same thing.

I don't have a radio here at work - anything on SEN yet?
