I think you would only have enough room for one of Lovett or Jetta. Jetta hasnt played a AFL game in a while either and id of thought a tough tackler like Slattery would help more then another fast receiver . I edited it again cos I forgot about Slattery who I thinks a pretty good versatile player but none of you guys seem to.

Jetta played every game until he got injured.
Hence why he hasn't played for a while.

Fair point about Slattery but I think he's a bit of a horses for courses type player. Handy to have against some sides but can be left out against others.

You missed McVeigh, Winderlich and you've got McPhee twice. I'd also add Hislop or Hocking to replace Dyson so in theory we have 10 of our bestt 22 out. Jetta also but he can take Reimers spot.

Yes, just about all teams can cover 4-5 injuries if they have to (and West Coast are HARDLY covering them), but we cant replace with the likes of Gumbleton, Longergan (in the best team?), Hislop, Hocking, Peverill etc. So you have to take these guys into consideration.

It is basically half the best side, plus 5 of the next best. Amazing situation really.

Add to that Welsh is not right, Winderlich was ruled out of foxsports news 10 minutes ago, and we have been looking fine in periods, yet woeful in others. I can guarantee you the likes of Footscray and St Kilda deep down were happy we have been missing so many.

Jetta hasnt played in a while because he has been out injured.

The question was to list our best 22. Jetta has been picked to play in every single game he has been avialable to play in since being drafted. He is in our best 22 end of story.

Essendons game plan compliments having players such as Lovett, Jetta and Davey all running around in the same team. Why wouldn't you want quick players with exceptional defensive skills such as Davey and Jetta in the same team?

Slattery will be lucky to still be on our list next season.

So basically we are a club with stuff all depth that currently has 9 of our best 22 out including 4 of our best 5 yet this should not have any affect on our performence? Of course it will! But i don't think Essendon supporters are whingeing about it, we have excepted it and see it as a chance for more youngsters to be blooded. We just don't understand why people jumping on here making out like it is not a problem and should not affect our performence.

This should put it in perspective for some of you people. It pretty much sums up exactly how most Essendon supporters feel about this.

Well it's the difference between us being competitive and not.

A year ago you guys were talking dynasties yet at the moment you are no better then us or Melbourne

We lack depth of quality but so does every other side bar Geelong and Hawthorn.

I think you're lucky you have depth in Bryan, Toovey, Stanley, Lonie, Iles, Ried, Holland, Cook,Cox,Egan.

We'd be a much better side if we could bring them in right now.

Reid will be a quality player
Lonie and Holland are on the way out, just like Jason Johnson and Damien Peverill
Cook tore your best midfielder a new hole on the weekend. Not a bad backup.
Bryan's probably better than your third ruckman and will be our VFL standard backup until we get a better one. Not many teams have three AFL standard ruckmen.
Stanley Iles Cox are coming along nicely and would all get a game ahread of Slattery Nash and Johns
Toovey's a younger slightly better version of Peverill. Difference is we'll cut our losses when we decide he cant make the grade instead of hang of for three years too many.
Egan is a soft useless hack, ideal for the Knights game-plan - do you want him?

If we get close to a full strength team and a good run with injuries in the second half of the season you will see a huge improvement from the team, mark my words. Our best 22 is competative, with our current injuries and lack of depth we are not. It is that simple.

No you won't. We frankly are not a good side this year, and to be honest a couple of years down near the bottom is probably where our list is to be honest. I hate it when people ovverate our list. Players who have played less that 10 games, whilst it is unfortunate are not going to impact on our season too much unless we have a Joel Selwood that I don't know about. And until we get a damn midfield it will continue.

no logical person can use sydney and essendon as a benchmark against each other!, the age difference of its players its huge... essendon one of the youngest lists in the comp vs sydneys oldest lists in the comp..

we are so much more reliant on players such as jetta lonergan etc than sydney are with jack bird etc. and that is due to our age.

anyways the point is lonergan etc are in our best 22!! bottom line
jack etc arent in your best 22, or not in my opinion anyway. if you had a full list i dont beleive they would be in the team if you were realistically looking at finals football.
wheereas if we had a full list to choose from jetta lonergan and dempsey would be in our starting 22..

yea, im on over 39 in some of my aussie accounts too.

But 1.43 or even the line is basically guaranteed money.

Once you start getting to the 7 goals and over bets, anything can happen with junk time goals etc. We should lose by over 40, Im expect close to 3 figures, but I wont plonk huge $ on over 39.5 like the first two.

Half the blokes listed were youngsters! Lucas, Davey and McVeigh granted but lets be honest they would be the only 2 that would make a massive difference. It is where our list is, the quicker some Essendon fans realise this the easier it will be. Our list is developing nicely, but to expect miracles is silly. Last year we had Hird, Lucas in career best form basically, Lloyd playing well and we still didn't make the 8. So why a year later with all 3 either gone, injured, or playing poorly will we improve. A bottom 4 finish where our kids improve is a GOOD season.
