Great goal, more a showcase of speed though, rather than brilliant skill. For me, the finish itself is straight forward, it's a running shot at goal from inside 50 with no one in front of him. The run itself, well there's a heap of open space in front of him, he doesn't dodge anyone, doesn't baulk anyone, doesn't break anyone's tackle.

Spectacular goal: Yes
Goal of the year: no way in my eyes

If you rate this goal of the year, you essentially are rating it based on legspeed and endurance rather than footy smarts and skills.

He does baulk Morris, speed up and bounce the ball at the same time. That's the best part.

This seems a little bit of bitterness to me, judging it purely on the legspeed? Really? Most players would have been too ****ed to even make the distance after a run like that which is what makes this one quite unique in that he finished it, kicking a drop punt from 50 with a defender on your tail after having sprinted 100+ metres is "straight forward"? Nah, can see you've never played footy before.

GOTY for mine, it's so much better than fluke snaps from the boundary.
Watch it again mate, wasn't so much a fluke after he danced around 5 opponents to then go on and purposefully kick the goal to get his team infront in the dying minutes.

Not bitter at all. Love Whitey.
Judging the call on its merits, yes most players would be too stuffed to kick it: endurance as I mentioned. The kick itself is inside 50 with little angle so in that sense the actual goal kick is straight forwarf as opposed to say Bontempellis in the pocket umder pressure.

And yes i have played footy and would not get near kicking that goal.

You dont deny the primary features of the goal are speed and endurance do you?

You got to realize how hard it is to kick straight after running flat out for 100 metres. More often than not players shank their kicks after a run.

Thanks riteo - just saved me tapping out a reply. Thinking that finish was simple is ridiculous

I dont think you know what a baulk is.

Dictionary:

baulk: to avoid deliberately

He doesn't maintain his line when he is running because Morris is there. Thus he baulks.

That's the last I'm saying on the matter.

Yep i do. But doing it after 100m is primarily due to endurance. Im yet to see anyone dispute me on this which was my original post.

Whites always been a freak runner and speedster, but the finish takes more fitness/endurance than skill when compared to Bontis.
