The thing I love most about the club is how decisive our employees are.

Always getting on the front foot, speaking and acting promptly in our best interests. Never slow to react, never silently pushed out of the narrative, never making the club look like a joke.

Maybe we're having crisis talks with Brad to see whether he will stay if we decide to match the deal?

After matching, we should be in Crouch's ear every day about the disrespect that the AFL world had for him, and his low status.

Only one way to prove them wrong big fella.
Yeah everyone thinks your crap Brad. Everyone thinks your crap Brad. Everyone thinks your crap Brad.

Hearing that from your own coach sounds like "Training Camp Mk II".

I think the delay may be the Crows talking with Brad and his manager to ensure they are onboard if the crow ( rightly) match plus no doubt an element of making the Aints sweat

if the rumoured $600 a season is correct then matching and keeping a quality Mid is a no brainer for the Crows

BREAKING NEWS: I'm taking over the club. I'm matching the offer. Then i'm trading Brad and a later pick to GC for pick 5, heck I'll even chuck in Mackay (he'll be better for them than Atkins!). Then trading Pick 5 and a later pick to Sydney for pick 3. They can have Poholke too. I'm taking Hollands at 1 and Thilthorpe are 3.

Lessssssss go!

Gold Coast could have had him as a free agent if they offered slightly more than St Kilda. Why would they now trade a top 5 pick for him?

Brad will be at Adelaide or St Kilda next year. That much is clear.

How is that different to any other player?
Are you really asking that?

Err I don't know because most people sign on without the fuss meaning they are happy to be here and committed. It's hardly out of the realms of possibility to think this case might be a bit unique in that the player and club seemed to have shopped around in a very public way and that it might cause some friction. I'm all for signing Crouch on if its the low ball contract offer but not if he's genuinely disgruntled by how things have ended up.

I’m sure someone posted AFL rules last night that we do.
By match crows are accepting saints contract. Makes me wonder if saints were playing the crows all along trying to get him through a incentives based contract.

Depend how much those other incentive that the Saints have placed, although you don't need to match them you have to include them in B.Crouch's new contract otherwise he would want to enter the draft and go to the Saints anyway.

My position hasn’t changed. Match and Sign! No trade as an F-U to the Saints.

Then bid on Absolutely everyone in the draft as an F-U to the AFL

F*** them, F*** them all!
Whole heartedly agree with bidding on every single academy player in the draft so the first round takes 5 hours and the AFL has to re-do their entire system. Shine a spotlight on that farce.

This was my take of it aswell. If it’s 4 x 600 id think we would happily pay him that?

Even if we match, would he want to come back to the Crows? Does the Club lose him for nothing (ala Jack Martin)

As a frustrated supported, I wanted an answer yesterday, but I guess I'd prefer a considered response with a better outcome more.
just on the Jack Martin stance, the Bloos offer of a future 2nd rounder if we had of accepted it would be in the mid 40s, a pick we would never use. I’m glad we held our ground and made it clear the days of taking unders was over. I say this only to highlight I think it’s great if the Crows hold there ground

Don't blame the AFL, blame the clubs

There has been public information available for years suggesting band 1 compensation, if it's a top 5% contract, needs to be $800k+
This doesn't explain band 1 To AFL faves Brisbane and Ess for a broken down hack who's played 5 games in 3 years.
As I've stated before, how much is the AFL topping up Brisbane's offer.?
Seriously, the most corrupt sporting organisation in the world.

Who gives a sh*t if he wants to stay? He isn't going to risk the draft. Even if he does risk the draft we just pick him up all over again.
So your ok paying a player big coin for five years who doesn't want to be there. That make no sense.
Best case is we match and the Saints roll over and give us their first round pick. Unlikely to happen otherwise they would have just removed the triggers and paid him the full amount got us band one and we all move on.
Right now maybe we are better off as a club long term eating this one, matching, if the Saints won't give us their first then move on, and if Brad wants to walk let him go.

Then he stays with us?

Or should we start letting all our best mids go for 2nd round picks?

Brad is easily worth a first rounder.
I'm not saying he isn't, I never cared about pick 2 but figured 12-16 is a fair range for him. I'm not happy about the compo on offer or what the Saints can give us but the point being made is merely it's far more preferable to ensure he'd be content to come back and be a professional over signing him on when there's bad blood as then we'll end up with another higher paid guy sitting in the SANFL like Gibbs.

I'm optimistic we'll do better than the joke AFL compo but just rushing to match if we don't have our options lined up is reckless.

I genuinely think crouch was happy to stay. Based on his offers last year we thought we could get a too good to refuse pick 2 and he would get a contract offer we couldn’t match in this phase of our rebuild when the alternative was pick 2

now that has t played out how either party hoped.

we may be talking with all parties still
- Brad you happy to stay on that offer?
- saints we match what are you offering?
- our point of acceptance nay not be pick 2 but it’s certainly not 23+

if we match how long does player have to make a decision may play into this
