You only have to match the exact structure in the draft. FA matching is average only.

Yes it's stupid.

Matching Offers
A contract offer is matched if the football payments and ASAs are equivalent under the offer and the contract proposed by the player’s current club. To qualify as a matching offer, the player’s current club must make an offer on the same terms as the new offer tabled by the player including:

• Contract length;
• Base payments;
• Total match payments;
• Total ASA payments;

Total performance incentives based on AFL awards or honours, club best and fairest finish or games played (not including finals). Any incentives for team performance do not have to be matched. A player cannot table an offer to be matched for less than a two-year contract length.

I think that the first sentence from the final para was supposed to be a bullet point also. The "games played" incentives is what could be painful for us.

However, the decision on whether or not to match the Crouch offer has less to do with what the Crouch deal will cost us, and more to do with what not matching may cost us in the next 20 negotiations. St Kilda tried to stitch us up by offering a contract with incentives that made it low for compensation consideration but high for us to accept. That's bad faith negotiations and shouldn't be rewarded, or Clubs will know that this can be done to us with no repercussions.

Sometimes you have to call a bluff, even if it costs you for that negotiation. Or, as a team mate on day release from prison once told me, "never start a fight in the yard, but never back down either. You REALLY don't want to be anyone's bitch". Jon was a scary guy, but he isn't wrong. St Kilda probably get the deal done anyway and it doesn't cost us anything. Worst case, we keep Brad at a time we have a salary cap to do it and stay down 1 year longer than we would have (with an extra top 5 pick that makes us stronger in the long run).

This post is just cherry picking for your argument.

You are making assumptions on points I haven't even brought up, and as with everyone else continue to ignore Brads durability, and the fact just about every mid declines at 30, with some outliers. We'll be lucky to get 2 years of peak Brad during a rebuild.

There's been gun medium/small sized since forever. It doesnt hurt to have one tall mid, look what happened when Bont played us, no match up, destroyed us. Macrae kills us every time as well.

Breakaway speed is very important, it helped Richmond win a flag, we are hoping Jones becomes that, as well as whatever we use our top midfield pick on this year. Brad has it, but also butchers it a lot.

Daniel is a defender who cost them a prelim when Geary took 4 contested marks on him, and kicked 2 goals. He had a great year but finally got exposed.
Talk about cherry picking.
Tell me what attributes Hatley has that sets him apart from other mids? Other than height what's makes him a good replacement for Brad.
Try and do that without saying height.
And Hatley is a long way away from knowing how his body will hold up. Could get an ACL first day of training. Could get another.

I’m hearing Brad is adamant that he doesn’t want to play for us again — despite what he has said to the media. If that’s true, this club is even more inept than I first thought.

The only way to save face now is somehow convince another club to trade for him on the matched salary. Like a Gold Coast, Sydney or Essendon.

If we can get Hately on the Scott Thompson gym regime he could end up very handy.

I can see us accepting the compensation pick and then gaslighting supporters

"Pick 2 was never on the table. We have been comfortable since day one about accepting a second round pick. Rory Sloane was only a pick 44. We have the best recruiters in the land"

Is that stuff Rendell said about changing the terms of the deal length true? That's news to me
Surprised me too ....thought the contract had to be matched ....Rendell saying Crouch can alter terms, but Crows can't

Vader this is your domain

Real smart of Brisbane paying 830k a year for a broken down player. Good luck with that. They will lose a decent player in 2 to 3 years.

But they have been to the prelim so they would see their window as the next 2 years. If they don’t win one then a mini reset will start anyway
They should some balls and punted in a bloke that could be the difference did he stays sound. They aren’t winning one with the their current list

So can I cross you off the list of suspects (softcocks) that complained about me giving their post a LOL?

I don't think it was complaining as such, more that it clearly says in the politics thread (it's stickied to every page) that abuse and/or trolling by laugh liking comments that you don't agree with were against the rules.

Those same standards apply to everyone so at the end of the day if people choose to continue to do that sort of stuff in that thread they do so at their own risk.

or even better..the AFL come out and say that all Adelaide had to do was accept St Kilda's offer to take Dunstan to help free up their salary cap which we were fine with and the deal they were going to lodge would have got you pick 2

If you were Brad, we haven’t presented a contract since the beginning of the year and we’ve tried to shop him for a pick windfall, we are bottom and they are finalists on the up, would you want to stay?

The people making the rules have NFI.
The have banned mentioning "trump derangement syndrome" or "TDS" from the trump thread on the SRP board.
Nope, no TDS there, its only up to part 15! :drunk:
Really hoping for a Trump win just for the hilarity that will ensue on the SRP board. The TDS will kick into overdrive.

I think he means that if Adelaide match and Brad stays, Brad and the club can at any point renegotiate the contract - the same way that can happen with any contracted player if both parties agree.

This is such amateur hour stuff.

The crows had to maintain the right internal messages with Brad Crouch for him to still be bought in to what we were trying to do. If we had put him off side it would not surprise me in the slightest if he told St Kilda he was out of there regardless.

Will the mod team consider expanding that rule to our entire board?

Cameron isn’t going to play for GWS again either. Hasn’t stopped them matching. It’s probably good for us if he doesn’t want to stay. Get your new club to pony up in a trade or find someone else.
